Hey Chica! Idk if you're still doing prompt imagines, but if you are, from Prompt List #1, 13 & 31 with Jason Demers? <3 <3
Tense wasn’t even close to describing the atmosphere. It had all been fine, perfectly jovial, until she showed up. Not that she seemed to feel the room shift. Nobody seemed to feel the room shift but Jason, to be fair.
Everyone got on around him like the world hadn’t just slowed down and tilted on its edge. It was incredibly rude of them.
Even more so when she walked towards them, greeting them all individually and by name.
“Hey Daddy,” she greeted, sidling up next to him and leaning against the back of the couch.
The conversation continued around him, everyone oblivious to his lack of contributions. Everyone except for her, of course, who kept looking at him with a quirked eyebrow. Occasionally she would chew on her lower lip as she turned her head.
It was only when everyone else dispersed—food was being served, the quickest way to get hockey players to move—leaving the two of them inside alone.
“Stop biting that fucking lip.” His teeth were gritted together. “You can’t keep pretending it didn’t happen. ‘Cause guess what? It did.”
“I’m not pretending anything,” she countered. “You’re the asshole who didn’t text me back the next day. Or any day after that.”
“You kept asking me if I wanted coffee.” He barely restrained himself from throwing his hands into the air in exasperation. “How is that not pretending it didn’t happen?”
“What was I supposed to say, Jason? Thanking someone for the sex is pretty fucking weird. And I couldn’t exactly talk to you about it in the morning because you’d gone to practice before I even woke up.”
“Who’s asking you to skip practice? All I’ve been trying to do is get us in the same fucking room for a month now.”
He drew up his shoulders and in a failed attempt at hiding. “Am I really that stupid?”
She laughed, “Yeah. I probably could have said that I actually wanted to talk to you.”
Making her laugh—even if it was at him, not with him—never failed to lighten Jason’s mood.
If he got to make her laugh for the rest of her life…
Her soft hand entangled with his and she started leading them towards the balcony. Jason froze in place, not wanting that conversation to happen in the open.
“Let’s get food. As long as you don’t have practice to get to any time tonight I think we’re safe.”
