heyy so i've seen lots of "binder setup" posts around (+ i'm planning on making one myself in the near future) but I thought it'd be cool to have some inspiration of what to actually put in your binder.

typed up notes

i guess this is a given (for most subjects, at least) but i generally like to type up every bit of content i learn in a class + notes from textbooks/lectures/etc. and set aside 1hr every weekend to print out all of my notes from the past 7 days. i recommend that you use microsoft word (pages, google docs), and keep everything b&w (except any diagrams/images) and keep underlines, bolds, and italics to a minimum - this makes sure that you highlight the important parts when you go through them when studying

when highlighting, keep the colour scheme vibrant, exciting, and constant, you don’t want to get bored, but you also want your notes to be legible and easily scanned

to-do lists

when i first joined this community i was blown away by the amount of to-do lists you could find - so i’ve linked a couple below

if your binder has those cute little pockets on the cover, pop them in there, otherwise poke some holes through the side and place them at the front for easy access.

mind maps

after a while, endless highlighted notes can get kind of monotonous, so spice it up with mindmaps!!!!

my fave studytube account uploaded a how to: mind map video that you should 100% check out also, i discovered these wonderful blank loose leafs the other day and my life has completely changed, so i found a similar kind of thing available internationally -> here if you use an ipad, i recommend installing ‘retenote’ for mindmaps - they are way more aesthetically pleasing than most apps available, and the premium version only costs $2.99

diagrams + images

this is a fabulous option for especially visual learners (you can find your learning style here), and they can either just be labelled diagrams or you can remove the labels and replace them with blank spaces for use as a revision tool near exam season

my favourite place to source/create diagrams is SmartDraw because for $9.95/month, you can create unlimited diagrams using their templates or pre-made symbols (of course, if you can’t afford this like most students, you can just take a screenshot of your creation when editing it)

if you don’t mind having different styles of diagrams throughout your binder, a quick google search will bring up thousands of free-to-use results, for whatever topic

other

there are hundreds of other things you could fill your binder with, and many of them come down to your own preferences. I’ve compiled a list of my fave lil’ ideas below;

monthly calendar pages (you can mark exam dates, tick off days you’ve studied, etc.)

weekly calendar pages (probably best to put a couple of weeks per page, but i love writing summaries of what was learnt in class throughout that week)

past tests/exams with annotations (drill in common mistakes you’ve made so you don’t make them again)

articles, news stories, etc (this is best for subjects such as economics, legal, politics, etc., that require you to keep up-to-date with the world around you)

motivation pages (i personally am not a fan, but maybe you need some extra oomph! to get you studying)

excerpts from a textbook/book

ready-to-use post it notes at the start of the binder

worksheets, relating to the topic at hand, with a little sandwich bag with the answers in it and blutac to match the Qs+As over and over again - best works when both are laminated

19.3.2017 // economics and maths methods on a sunday afternoon - would prefer to be doing financial arithmetic rn bc i looove it but i have to keep up my methods for ~9 weeks so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  i’m going to start my 100 days of productivity soon as well, so stay tuned
