According Llew Claasen, Bitcoin could reach $ 40,000 by the end of 2018 (but 90% of other currencies will disappear)
Expert in Bitcoin, Llew Claasen delivered his forecasts for the future of cryptocurrencies. They are half-hearted: Bitcoin should be exchanged for $ 20,000 to $ 40,000 at the end of the year, but 90% of other cryptocurrencies may disappear.
In the world of cryptocurrency (yes, always existing), some people have made a name for themselves. This is the case of Llew Claasen, CEO of the Bitcoin Foundation, considered an expert in the field.
It was Wednesday, during an appearance at the conference of the Grind start-up, that Claasen dared some forecasts. According to him, Bitcoin still has a bright future ahead: it could be exchanged for $ 40,000 at the end of the year. For indication, the current value of Bitcoin is about $ 9,000, which would bring the growth percentage to more than 400%.
Towards a new outbreak in the fall?
According to Claasen, the instability of the cryptocurrency market in recent weeks is not worrying. “The market is nervous because of the magnitude of the correction“. The current value of Bitcoin is likely to remain stable over the next 3 to 6 months, before experiencing another surge. The man sees this with a good eye: “It’s good. It gives us the time to work on the technology before the next big affluence“.
That was the good news. Because there is a bad one. Unfortunately, he also predicts a 90% drop in other crypto-currencies in circulation. The case of Ethereum or Ripple, which have the wind in their sails, is not precisely mentioned. But others, unknown, which allow some to reap profit in the short term, will never see their value take off. A prediction already mentioned the day before by Brad Garlinghouse, the CEO of Ripple.
Too many speculators make the market fragile and dangerous
The probability of failure of these crypto-currencies is therefore related to the increasing number of people developing rapid enrichment schemes, who seek to take advantage of the current craze for cryptocurrency. Since the beginning of the year, five cryptocurrencies have already been removed, facing fraud charges.
The man is also concerned that some people see these crypto-currencies as a means of investment (and enrichment). For him, these people risk “their life savings on high-risk projects” and renew the well-known and already reiterated advice that one should invest only what one can afford to lose. In an interview with Business Insider, he said he thinks that in the future the market will sort these scams and prevent them.
