I joined a Blades in the Dark campaign which has been an absolute font of joy and instances of “what is wrong with us?!” Imaginary criminal catharsis is fun. Anywhere he’s my boy Opportunity, I might look like a one trick pony but I missed him dearly and I’m so glad to be playing him in his element again
[Image: a digitally painted portrait in profile of a young man wearing a worn mask in the shape of a magpie’s skull that covers most of his face. He has olive skin and blue-black hair drawn into a high ponytail and tied with two iridescent feathers. His face is crossed with a few faded scars, and he smiles subtlety, his mouth only just visible beneath the mask. He wears a black, collared shirt, and around his neck is a dark green ribbon. End ID.]
Important distinction
[Image: a black and white drawing of Opportunity, a Tycherosi slide in a bird skull mask and Victorian evening wear, and Solace, a drow bard with hair that covers his eyes and a long coat, labelled, “horrible little reptile man (disambiguation).” Beneath each is a short list of qualities. Opportunity’s reads, “magpie persona. No visible eyes. A notorious criminal. Carries a cane because he’s a fancy little Victorian dandy.” Solace’s reads, “copperhead familiar. No visible eyes. A dastardly villain. Carries a cane because he jumped off a ledge once and broke his shin in half.” End ID.]
Local boy gets roasted by a teenager and a bent cop for looking like he knows what an orange tastes like, more at 7
[Image: a three panel comic in greyscale, besides a minimal coloured accent for each character. In the first panel, Enigma, a teenage girl with dreadlocks, and Opportunity, a young man in a bird-skull mask, are sat at a table together. Laroze, an older man in a Bluecoat uniform, is leaving with a pouch of coin in hand, saying, “nice to meet you, fish boy.” The second panel re-centres the two, now alone at the table together. In the third panel, Opportunity finally turns to his cohort to tell her, “you really associate with the most insufferable people.” She gives him a wry smile. End ID.]
We’re about to Incite the Wrath of Consequence
[ID: a doodle of two characters talking. Crow, who wears a helmet that covers their entire head and has a real crow sitting on their shoulder, says, “that is not going to end well. But it will be spectacular regardless.” Opportunity, a man in a mask that looks like a magpie’s skull, says, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Whatever happens will be at least interesting enough to constitute success.” Crow concludes, “true. Failure is just success in a different mask.” Presumably out of frame, their three (unmasked) associates look at them with expressions ranging from agreeable interest to mild horror. End ID.]
