Q Hayashida: Dorohedoro
2000-2018
10/ INSANELY COOL AND ASTOUNDING WORK OF ART! Dorohedoro was right up my alley, I got into it because my tattoo artist has a panel of Nikaido posted in his studio, and I stared at her for hours and hours wriggling in pain; I was enchanted. The art style is so unique, I was taken in right from the first pages and during my journey with this manga I got inspired to make art again, which makes this whole experience a lot more special for me. Anyway, if you like gore, insane-in-the-brain batshit crazy stuff and a complex, twisty storyline I absolutely recommend diving into Dorohedoro's eccentric, creepy, sludge-filled world where you'll meet guys with mind-bending character designs and vivid personalities. Fun was had, I'm sure this manga will be among my all time favorites for life. I'm thankful to Q Hayashida - who made this masterpiece all alone mind you - that I got to experience this. Now go and read it!
sidenote: I really like the wordplay in the title too :3
colors: mud gray, dusty lilac, deep green scales, pitch-black rooms, moldy ceilings and GYOZA
