A Tale of Transformation
A renaissance 18 years in the making, a dilapidated plot has metamorphosed into a 19th-century homestead on 35 lushly manicured acres of the unsuspecting countryside.
When architects Andrea Filippone and William Welch first discovered the property it was a desolate, overgrown piece of land with four ancient, abandoned barns. Now resurrected, courtyards are filled with bustling boxwood and nepeta. Stone walls encase heuchera and hydrangea. A conservatory, reminiscent of 18th-century France, houses a collection of reclaimed fireplace mantels and Parisian flea market antiques. To see it now, in all it’s glory, it’s hard to imagine it ever looking otherwise. A tale of transformation back to a timeless state, clean and lovely, and the perfect setting for Stacey Bendet, the designer of alice + olivia, and her team to bring the Spring 2014 collection to life.
