He’d had a bit much to drink-- far more than usual. Who could blame him, though? Putting up with Gaston’s constant pining for Belle-- a man could only take so much. His feelings and desires were blatantly ignored while being painfully obvious. Jacques scarcely noticed when Gaston came to fetch him, helping the intoxicated male to his feet and directing him back to their abode.

Along the way he began to pick up on just who was helping him. A dopey grin crossed his features. “Gassston-- you-- you’re here. We should-- we should have a drink. Together. Let’s drink.” He giggled pleasantly.

It isn’t often that they do this anymore, and Jacques craves it more and more each time. Gaston’s rough, impatient hands fumbling with buttons or outright ripping the clothes off of him, shoving him against a wall, kissing him like he’s marking his territory. Jacques is happy to take whatever he is willing to give, and tonight, that’s quite a lot.

“S--slow, slow, please Gaston,” he finally pants (begs, really), hands scrambling uselessly to find purchase on his friend’s biceps, some place from which to slow their proceedings. “I can’t--keep up. Slow, please, Capitaine.”

Père Robert had retired for the evening. Papa was off on a three day trip to see about purchasing some new tools at the fair. So, Belle was alone, sitting in the corner of the tavern and nursing an ale as she tried to read Love’s Labour’s Lost. 

She didn’t want to be in the tavern, glorified temple to Gaston that it was, but the candles and lanterns at home had to be rationed, they could build up expenses, and the tavern was always well-lit, if abhorrently noisy.

So, she tried her best to concentrate on the wordplay between the French Princess and the King of Navarre and their retinues even as everyone else continued to shout and drink and sing.

                   He heard the rumors, but hadn’t believed it to be true. Gaston was alive, and back in town. He noticed him, though he looked... remarkibly different. Belle had said he had fallen, and she hadn’t seen his body when the castle returned to normal. Like it had never been.  It was odd, but now he was back. Beale sighed as he sat on the steps of now HIS home. Watching the chickens as he tossed a bit of feed here and there.                 Honestly, it was so dull now that his father and sister lived in a castle. True he could of moved in but... that felt... oddly wrong.  So here he was, wasting his life away just... gardening, and getting by. Going to the meadow and picking flowers to help the stall lady, getting paid two gold pieces a day. Along with foraging and such, he simply made due. Which was fine by him.

But there he was, the man who had pined for his sister since... he wasn’t sure how long. He;d missed it all, being away doing schooling duties for his father in Germany.
