after rewatching murderbot s01e01 while reading ASR along side, skarsgard's look of horror at almost all times during the show is completely in character and I love it so much
please remember who was there first
christ i hate the star trek fandom. i love star trek so much that i should just... not look at reviews anymore. i really like starfleet academy but people are so hateful like yah, its not a planet of the week. yah, its more character focused. yah, it doesnt do big allegorical plots anymore.
but as a long time trekkie and i mean A LONG TIME, most of my life really, star trek needs that. i love lower decks because of the characters, i love ds9, partly cuz of the characters, i love tng l, partly because of the characters.
i really think star trek as a franchise shouldn't be limited to the roddenberry formula. its a world, hundreds of thousands of millions of worlds waiting to be explored, to be told. starfleet academy is one kf those worlds, and it is explored in a way thats hopeful of the future, and connecting to that future by being a coming of age.
if yall want a modern star trek show that explores our current issues in a star trek way, watch Steve Shives' Starfleet Jobs on youtube! its awesome and feels so star trek! but it feels so different from tng and ds9 and tos and voyager and enterprise and thats GOOD.
star trek needs to expand. there should be star trek shows that dont focus on starfleet. that focus on other aspects of starfleet. that focuses on the wars. that focuses on the civilians. that focuses on the world, on the people. shows that expand the universe and those that examine parts already made.
tldr: i just think people are too pissy about starfleet academy
started reading all systems red after watching the murderbot tv show.
book!murderbot is so much faker of an idgafer than tv!murderbot.
if i had a nickel for every star trek gay ship that got canonized decades after the show ended, i would have two nickels and i will cherish those nickels for eternity
