2/24/25.
I often look over my record collection and wonder which LPs I can't get rid of. mclusky is in the never-get-rid-of category. I know I've extolled my love for this band many times, but I don't mind being repetitive.
"the world is still here and so are we" is the first new mclusky LP in 20 years. And really, it doesn't sound like they've taken a break at all. This is pummeling and melodic - and it kind of demands your attention.
It's funny. I looked on AllMusic for mclusky (Wales/Bristol) comparisons, and I own none of their "similar artists" - Les Savy Fav, Idlewild and Hot Snakes. I would say they remind me of Pixies, Soul Glo, Drug Apartments, Bits of Shit, and Psychic Soviets.
I waited one day too long to get any of the Bandcamp versions. So, I went to Townsend Music and got the vinyl/signed print package. This is being released by Ipecac Recordings.
