Astral projections were the worst. It was taking all of the stocked energy and draining all willpower one could ever get. Poor (Y/N) knew all of that. She was currently laying on the bright green carpet that covered the floor of her apartment. She was shaking, but sweat was running down her spine as if she was doing a marathon in the Sahara desert. It took several attempts for (Y/N) to finally sit correctly on the floor. She groaned.
It has been weeks since she moved out of Stonehaven. She hadn't responded to any of Jeremy's call on her cell phone. Don't get her wrong, (Y/N) wanted to answer. But she would get scared and hang up on him before he could start talking. She did try to call and apologize but was resigning after the second ringing and ending the calls. She was drowning herself with work and job as far away as possible from Bear Valley.
A knock on her door made her jump. It was late she wasn't waiting for anybody, none of her clients knew her private address. (Y/N)'s heart started racing. Her breath went uneven. Wobbling on her feet, she walked to the front door. Her door didn't have a peephole and (Y/N) was still too weak to project herself out of her body to see who it was outside. Carefully, she opened the door and picked her head out. She nearly closed the door right back. Her heart sank almost painfully toward her stomach her eyes opening wide.
''Jeremy, hey!''
The girl wanted to kick herself to the moon. What a pathetic salutation. She was such a dumbass sometimes. Jeremy didn't respond to her fake joyful smile. He didn't even blink. Cold sweat was now running down (Y/N)'s spine.
''Do you want to come in?''
Again, Jeremy didn't answer. Although he did enter the apartment, he seemed to do so mechanically. Walking past him after closing the door, (Y/N) was now rambling about coffee and tea. She was opening her coffee machine when Jeremy started to talk.
'' You had me worried.''
Stopping in her movement, (Y/N) tried to calm her beating heart. She let out a nervous laugh, placing a cup under the coffee maker. ''What do you mean?''
Jeremy didn't laugh, nor did he let his seriousness fall. She found herself shivering and tried to stop it.
''I mean that you didn't answer your phone when we called you. You didn't come back for weeks. No letter, no calls, nothing. What did you expect ?''
''I didn't realize that I had to report everything that I was doing to you, Jeremy. '' (Y/N)'s voice went cold, her words her harsher than what she intended to voice them.
The man seemed taken aback by her last sentence. He was still not used in how supernatural beings could not respect him like all of his wolves were. For the first time in a long time, (Y/N) didn't feel oppressed to be polite to him. They were at the same level, equals.
The woman took the cup of coffee that has finished infusing, offering it to the Alpha wolf. He took the cup carefully a sound emitting from his throat.
''The coffee isn't directly from Arabia but still...''
Hopping on her counter, a coffee cup in hands, (Y/N) was looking everywhere but towards Jeremy. The man shrugged and walked closer to her.
''You don't have to tell me everything that is going on in your life. I would have preferred not having to take the road to be able to talk to you. Do you know how hard it is to find your house? '' He accused.
It was (Y/N)'s time to shrug. Her heart was beating fast. She was having trouble controlling her breath. He was a tad to close for (Y/N)'s comfort. She liked it, maybe a bit too much. She could easily smell his cologne, the smoke that was sticking to his clothes and the wood that surrounded Stonehaven. Her eyes could decide where to focus. They were flying around looking into his eyes, down his chest and back to her mug of coffee. A low rumble emitted from his throat once again. Her eyes darted back into his. She was trying to get back her composure, (Y/N) was sure she was doing very well at that. Her mother had told her many times that she wasn't good at lying.
Jeremy's lips were so close to her's. She couldn't help imagining what they would feel like against her lips. But of course, she had to prove her point and be a smartass.
''You don't own me, Jeremy. And I have other people to take care of.''
''If I ask you to become my shaman, what would you say?''
Stuck in between the kitchen cabinet and Jeremy's body, (Y/N)'s heart was racing. She was feeling just like she was coming back from an astral projection. She felt as if she was under some spell. His perfume was intoxicating, (Y/N)'s mind was racing. What to do? She decided to run over the periodic table in the alphabetic order.
Actinium, aluminum, americium, antimony, argon, arsenic, astatine, barium, berkelium, beryllium. Jeremy's aroma was floating too close to her nose to (Y/N) for her to be able to concentrate correctly.
''What would you say if I asked you right now? If you were my-our shaman, you would always be safe. You would always be under our protection.''
Jeremy's lips were so close to her's. No. Fermium, flerovium, fluorine, francium, gadolinium. He whispered her name as if he was asking for permission. Too weak to answer, (Y/N) only made a sound. The alpha didn't hesitate longer.
In a heartbeat, his lips touched her's and retracted. She didn't even have the time to react that he was gone. Only subsisted the ghost of a touch. Jeremy's eyes were looking at (Y/N) in a way she wouldn't be able to explain.
''What would you say, if I asked you right now to become the shaman of my pack?'' He asked again.
''I would say yes.'' Jeremy's smiled brighten his whole face. ''But, I still want to be able to move around freely. I am not one of your wolf that you can boss around. Not that you do that of course.''
