My Holt Hyde Knock off came in the mail today! I am so pumped! You know what that means! it’s review time!

For anyone wondering why I would want a fake Holt Hyde, he’s a great base for my Monster High OC! I got this on ebay for $15 which is a decent price considering Mattel hasn’t made a Holt doll since 2013 and I desperately needed his fire hair for Bitey.

 MAN! I must say that knock offs have stepped up their game! Some of you who have been following me for a long time remember when I did my first review of a Knock Off Clawd Wolf doll about 2-3 years ago. And let me just tell you, The knock offs have gpotten so much better! he’s not cheap feeling or hollow. his forearms come out without breaking! a HUGE improvement! His lack of writs articulation is a small price to pay for how decent he is. However his body isn’t so amazing that I’d be willing to keep it, so I plan on transplanting his head onto Scarnival Clawd Wolf.

Lets compare and contrast shall we? Fakie Holt is a bootleg doll that uses Holt Hydes mold with Scaris Deuces clothes and sweet 1600 Clawd wolf boots and a medium brown skin tone. Everything about his face up is very close to Holt’s except for his eyebrows which are weirdly very bushy & over defined and quite frankly he’s just not as handsome as Holt is. His eyes being too close together and his eye make up not being flattering to his skin makes him look odd.

His hair however is BEAUTIFUL! I actually prefer it to the basic Holt Hydes hair because it has more orange and yellow in it vs real Holts mostly red hair. His face is also slightly more narrow than Holts which gives him a unique face shape. He kinda has a receding hairline going on but that may be because his wig cap was place incorrectly and is an easy thing to fix.

Their bodies are remarkably similar. Fakie Holt has a slightly lighter skin tone than Clawd which I’ll elaborate on in a moment but in terms of quality? they’re pretty tied. Mattel should have easily knocked this one out of the park- but Scarnival Clawd is riddled with all kinds of problems. his shins have rough seams and he has this bizarre stain on his shoulder that magic eraser will not get rid of. Fakie Holt’s only real issues are he’s kinda shiny, has this faint plastic smell & lacks wrist articulation.

I did accidentally snap off Scarnival Clawds neck peg when I swapped his head and clothes with Fakie Holt but Clawds head still sits fine on it, Fakie Holt however has a slight case of bobble neck but nothing a little tissue or craft foam won’t fix.

The last picture has nothing to do with the comparison it’s just the test face up of what he might look like with my OCs face up! thank you so much to @teddy-beard for the mock up! if it wans’t for you I wouldn’t have been inspired to make Bitey!

I’ve already read Anna and the Swallow Man last weekend, and it was a good read. I’m hoping Truthwitch is good, but I’m hesitant because of the mixed reviews. I didn’t have to buy it, so I pressed that borrow button when I saw it available.

Just to let you know how bad my mind is; I went on Amazon to purchase the first book in the Mercy Thompson series, turns out I already have it! When I saw that little memo at the top of the page, I was like huh?. I purchased it back in 2014, but I swear that I don’t remember. I turned on my Kindle, searched, and there it was. I decided to go ahead and get book two, in case I have the urge to read it after I finish the first one. I need help you guys.

Thank you to Carole for Friction,  Jennifer for Bitter Bite, and Tamara for 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl. I was happy and sad to see Lady Midnight in my box. Happy because I’ve been waiting for this series to kick off, sad because Amazon haven’t sent my other books. Ever since I got off Prime, they take their time when delivering. That still won’t make me subscribe again, just for rush jobs on book deliveries. Too much money when I don’t even shop like I used to with them. I’m thinking of only buying Kindle books from them from now on, and get my physical books elsewhere.

I hope you all have a great weekend. I was invited to a bridal shower that is today. My boyfriend has had my invitation in his truck for weeks, and forgot to give it to me. I’ll just have to gift the bride another time, because there’s a dress code for the shower and I have no time to shop for something to wear. I hope she doesn’t get upset that I’m not coming, but she should blame her brother for his absentmindedness. What books did you add to your shelves this week?
