This is one of the most hilarious fics I’ve ever read! It had me laughing until I cried. The characters were spot on and reminded me why I love them just as much in an ensemble as individually. This is also easily one of my favorite Tater characterizations. Every bit of it was perfect from beginning to end.

Can we please talk about how Jack “Everything is riding on my shoulders and I must be the best” Zimmermann was PULLED OUT OF A GAME after a puck to the face???

And when he got home with stitches and a bandage on his face, our boy was FUCKING SMILING?

Like... this is the boy who couldn’t emotionally handle not being the one to make the game-winning goal on family weekend Bitty’s freshman year.

This is the boy who retreated from everyone so he could go cry alone on the loading dock when they lost in the Frozen Four last year.

That same boy came home from a game where he took hit after hit after hit until one finally took him out of the game, in his rookie year in the NHL when the pressure is as high as it’s ever been for him to prove he belongs there, and instead of crumbling, instead of getting angry with himself or with anyone else, instead of feeling anxious and tense and turning into Mr. Bitchy Hockey Robot, he calls his boyfriend and he SMILES.

I mean, just look at him in those last few panels -- his shoulders are relaxed, he looks totally at ease, he’s smiling and focusing on reassuring Bitty that the hit wasn’t that bad instead of needing Bitty to talk him down, and he even has the mental energy to redirect from his own stuff and ask Bitty about HIS day. Like. I can’t even handle what an amazing change this is from Year 1 Jack. Being with Bitty, being with the Falconers, it’s just all come together for our French Canadian Son <3<3<3
