💜💙💗 Did you know? Over 56% of LGBTQ+ adults in the U.S. identify as bisexual, making bisexuality the largest identity in the community!
And when you look at younger generations, the numbers are even higher: 59% of Gen Z and 52% of Millennials who identify as LGBTQ+ are bisexual.
That’s why visibility matters… to reflect the reality of our community and to remind every bi+ person that their identity is real, valid, and seen.
"As for ratios, I don’t much care for them. I’ve always felt that ratios were used to discredit bisexuality. People would try to say 'well, you’ve slept with more women than you have men, so you must really be straight.' Think of bisexuality as a car, just because you’ve used it to go to the supermarket more than the hair salon doesn’t change the car's ability to go to both locations. Your bisexuality gives you the power to be attracted to women and men. If you find yourself leaning more towards one, that might have more to do with the talent on offer than your hormones. Of course, the flip side of this is people's bisexuality falls on a spectrum — some are 90/10, some 50/50, but the important thing to remember is that wherever you fall on that spectrum, you’re still bi."
Are “ratios” a good way to measure bisexuality?
It’s bisexual visibility month so I decided to draw my best bi’s Clear and Kaname (for some reason the blue part of the flag is super big and I merged the layers and can’t fix it so fuck)

It just occurred to me that all my tumblr followers who don’t follow me on Instagram have no idea who these people are or where they came from so I have to go work on a post for that now.
Bi Visibility Month is a time for us to be seen. So many of us have heard the hurtful myths about who we are. My hope is that we can continue to show the world that our bisexuality is a valid, powerful commitment to our whole selves. There’s still work to do, but we are making progress.

Today is Bi+ Visibility Day! For over 50 years, I've been saying that every time a bisexual person makes their identity known, that is a form of activism. So today, let's celebrate all the ways bi+ people are visible—as well as the beautiful and complex ways we exist.
After years of fighting for visibility for bi+ people, we're finally seeing a major shift. There's more authentic representation in the media and in public life than ever before. While there's always more work to be done, we've made real progress and that is worth celebrating. Happy Bi Visibility Month!
Bisexuality is about self-naming. Each of us is the expert of our own experience, and no one else has the right to define it for us. 💜💙💗
