A little personal update. Thanks to this wild and crazy Ghostbusters fandom, I am going back to school—pursuing a graduate degree at Columbia University.

Yes, I applied in part because Ghostbusters (1984) filmed at Columbia in New York City. Yes, I looked around for filming locations (although my sense of direction is terrible and I’ve mostly been lost navigating campus lol). Yes, I imagined the characters walking around Columbia and engaging in academic life. And I still have much more to explore!

Honestly, it feels like a dream come true. My program is hybrid, so I’ll be visiting campus periodically. It’s only week one, and I’m so excited and humbled by this opportunity!

I don’t really share personal stuff on my feed. But I can genuinely say that I wouldn’t have applied to Columbia without getting into the Ghostbusters fandom. Is that bananas? Yup. But thanks to all of you who keep the fandom alive. Being a Ghostbusters fan has inspired a great new chapter in my life.

An ask! You’re Janine and you’re trying to plan a fun date with egon. It’s spring and you’ve just started dating. What ideas would you come up with?

“I’d like to hike along a stone trail that leads to a huge waterfall, and then dine al fresco.”

If the Ghostbusters got invited to a film premiere in New York, what would they wear on the red carpet? Who would they bring as guests? And what snacks would they eat during the movie?? Thanks for tackling this big ask!

I think all of them would suit up nicely. Perhaps Egon wears a bow tie. Maybe their tux colors would be slightly different than the usual black tie.

Of course their plus ones would be their significant others. I.e Egon and Janine would have a color palette theme going on. She’d look very glamorous in a sparkly blue dress.

There were probably fancy small plates and drinks, tho I imagine after the movie, they are all still hungry so they get pizza later.

Prompt for a Drabble: “what, am I not allowed to look at you?” 👀😎

Egon bites into one end of a long, twisted donut as he makes eye contact with Janine.

One look from him says so much, “What? Am I not allowed to look at you?”

Suddenly, Janine bites the other end of the same donut as she gazes at him. “Two can play this game, you know.”

They let their eyes do the talking as they share the donut, until their lips meet in a kiss, tasting of sugar and flour.

A Ghostbusters ‘Jolly’ timeline ask: How would Egon and Janine celebrate their kids reaching big milestones? Like graduating from high school or college, winning an award, etc.

The year is 2012. Maddie throws her cap in the air because she just graduated high school. She’s ready to enjoy her summer before she goes to uni! Egon and Janine take Maddie to her favorite cafe and then announce that they’re going on a trip to Paris. Which is a nice graduation for their youngest daughter, an aspiring chef, who just can’t wait to try all the pastries and desserts! (Lol seriously don’t get her to start talking about macarons. The girl has a sweet tooth like her dad!)

If somebody told her that she’d meet and fall in love with someone who catches ghosts, she’d laugh in their face. So who is laughing now???

Once they quietly started dating, Egon’s mom was the first to realize that her future daughter in law is a keeper. She gives her son the ring, a family heirloom, that he proposes to Janine right after defeating Gozer.

Egon can play the guitar while Janine can play the drums. They can start a band together. Meanwhile, Rosaline can play the piano, Isaac can play bass, and Maddie can play the ukulele.

Janine collects her favorite outfits, jewelry, and accessories over the years. She donates some of her items to the ghostbusters museum, like her iconic work outfit and glasses. The rest of the collection will be split by Rosie and Maddie.

Regarding sports, Rosaline was into fencing during her high school and college years. Isaac played basketball while Maddie was part of a dance crew.
