Reference photo for Vinyl vs Resin Goodreau dolls. Pictured here: Trixie, a Goodreau Rumor, and Alexis, a Goodreau Whisper. Same body type for both sculpts.
The trick is the wrist/elbow and ankle/knee joints. Resin Goodreau dolls have a hook in the wrist and a sculpted ball joint in the elbow.
Vinyl ones have the elastic captured inside the hand and a mechanical joint at the elbow. The leg is basically the same.
If you look closely, you can see the elastic through the joint in the elbow on the resin doll.
I just sent this to a seller who wasn't sure if her doll was resin or vinyl.
This is partly due to the very high quality of the Goodreau vinyl dolls; they don't feel like and plastic or cheap vinyl. I've had discerning collectors mistake my vinyl kids for resin in person!
I've always been fine with letting other people touch my dolls, so my Goodreau Rumor, Trixie, is my often my Gateway Doll. She's lovely, she's slightly lighter than her resin counterparts, and I can carry her around in public without being worried about damage from dropping her or bumping into something. And I'm a complete sucker for her sculpt.
