Aliexpress doll props finds of the day:

‘Table (dish) mats’ are perfect as fancy rugs (like these)

‘pet blankets’ are pretty much the right size AND thickness for doll blankets (60x80cm for SDs for example)

‘baby towels/blankets’ work too, but might be a bit thin (like these)

HOw about camping? Pet tents exist, and so does MSD camping… (link) For SD sizes tents, look for kid tipis or pet tipis. They come in various heights.

Dog jackets (like these) should fit big SD guys with a 28 to 30cm chest.

Two words - pet beds.

Yeah they’re prices (80$ and up) but I’ve paid 250$ for a commissioned SD doll sofa, so these prices are okay I think. Esp. for something that size.

ElementDoll is running a pre-order for their six 1/6 scale heads!  To find them, just search “ElementDoll” on Taobao.  Pre-order ends 23rd December 2019.

The human heads come in white, normal pink, “Volks” normal, light tan (Napidoll milk tea tan), dark tan (iMda’s choco) and grey.  The cat head additionally comes in black!  The pumpkin head comes in orange or white.  Heads D/ E/ F are limited quantity.  Head B does remind me of one of the Chibi Unoa faces.

The heads have a face-plate system, so you can order one entire head, and then face-plates for the different expressions.  It’s not a new idea, but still a good one!

You can also order a matching Akagidoll body in the same store (all colours except black).  I’ve heard that these bodies have good poseability.  The white/ normal-skinned bodies are slightly more expensive than from the other Akagidoll dealer I’m aware of, but perhaps that’s because the waiting period is supposed to be a month shorter.  It seems the heads also fit various Obitsu bodies (search the ElementDoll tag on Weibo for examples).

New in dolly land (Stars are falling, Mia doll, TrueLove Doll)

Stars are falling (SAF) has a new ¼ head, Hee, up for pre-order till 3rd August 2019!  He’s a wild boy with slanty eyes and a protruding fang (not sure if that’s sculpted or painted?)  Available in white, “normal” (both matched to Volks) or light tan (matched to Myou).

Mia has announced the pre-order dates for her new Soo 2nd and Soo Smile sculpts: 30th July to 2nd August 2019.  Now, I did say that the ever-popular Soo, while adorable, wasn’t really my thing, but Soo Smile is another kettle of fish… I have a vision of an adorable little tike with scruffy hair and a tiny smile peeking out from behind Shiina’s legs…!  I may well try to bring that vision to life.  Now, where to find a cute little body for him… if anyone has recommendations for bodies 18-25cm tall to fit a 6-inch head, please let me know!

This isn’t really “new” news, but the Arvin ¼ sculpt by TrueLove Doll recently caught my eye as being quite fetching.  I think I’ve seen TrueLove’s Ivan sculpt before, but never really paid the company much attention.  Arvin has only an 18cm head circumference so I bet he would make a great Chibi Unoa/Narsha hybrid, too!  Does anyone know anything about this company?  I couldn’t find any info on Den of Angels at all.  The style of some of the sculpts reminds me a little of independent sculptor SSRS.

Finally, if you missed my last entry, LAKE’s beautiful 1/3 scale head Nya is up for pre-order! It’s a good time to support the sculptor if you like Nya, as she recently received news (according to her Weibo) that one of her sculpts is under threat of being recast. :(  (seriously? a Chinese “artist sculpt” which is already so inexpensive…?)

Saintbloom seems to have re-opened!  Their slim 30cm girls Charlie, Charlotte, Diana and Vicky can be ordered until 30th June.

BJD Finds: links and layout

New blog layout! Because of Tumblr’s killing of offsite links, I’ve had to change the way I share the stuff I find. Source URLs will now be shown in text form under a ‘read more’ for copy/pasting, with flowers to break the link and stop Tumblr from hiding my posts from the BJD tag and search bar.

As always, if you see something you’re interested in grabbing, you can check out the ‘How to’ linked in each post, where I’ve written a tutorial on how to buy on Taobao with a proxy service.
