I've been in the hobby since I was 14, I'm almost 21, and its been interesting to watch the hobby change. When I joined there was still BJDcast, rags to resin, Kireix was mega popular and my biggest inspiration. Then it was the era of like Phxxxcowgirl, Denali Wind, and young Anne P. Now its kind of an instagram based hobby. It went from Soom being the most popular company to now all you see is FairyLand. I don't know if I like this new era, kind of miss the beginning.

Whenever I see another doll maker being accused of having copied it's usually small things or things that can be explained. Small things as in simmilarities of the stomach, hip to waist ratio or just the chest. There are only so many ways of making those things before it becomes anatomically fucked. Explainable things are having a simmilar aesthetic, Having worked with another doll artist once and having leaned from them or just doing what the hobby is currently going for.

I can't wait for that 2009, old Volks, solid color airbrushed with minor detail/realism, eyebrow connected to the nose bridge, upside down eyebrow, solid black glossy upper liner look to be dead and gone.

I absolutely HATE the new-ish trend in the BJD hobby to make dolls with weird, ugly squashed little faces. OrangeTea Dolls comes to mind with their Violka and Pollet dolls, and while those are still pretty bad in my mind I've seen WAY worse. (Heartstrung's Bulbi is another.) Why are these dolls so popular? They remind me of pugs in human form, but they don't have the benefit of being ugly-cute, they're just like ugly little alien looking things. I feel so judgey about this lol.

I have to agree with annon. Emo & scene went out of fahion at least 5 years ago but it seems like people in this hobby just can't move on. The same with plugs and lip piercing's. Their dolls seem to attract a fan base of other kids and adults who are still trying desperately to hang on to the MySpace years. Oh well, whateva floats ya boat
