Little Reminder For You All

Due to a recent call out, I just want to post something here for the BJD community. Stick with me guys!

There will always be someone who dislikes your dolls, even if they are the most beautiful dolls in the world. And you know what? They are. They are the most beautiful dolls in the world because they are YOURS. You MADE them who they are. You should never be ashamed of something you put your heart into, ever, even if someone says you should. 

Made a doll with self-harm scars? Bruises? Abuse? They are beautiful, and they are yours. Made a doll with dark skin? Beautiful. White skin? Amazing. Faceupless dolls even?? Of course. They are all amazing little parts of you. 

I know it’s hard to continue when people bring you and your resin friends down. I’ve dealt with so much from my family, mainly people calling him anorexic (my grandmother even went to far as to call him ‘the little anorexic’ to my face) or ugly, but in my eyes, I think he’s one of the most beautiful characters I have, and that is saying something. 

Don’t ever let anyone tell you that your dolls are ugly. If they do, just remember that they are yours, and yours only, and if you think they are beautiful, then they are. They are amazing. Just remember this this.

And to everyone who has dealt with family, friends, or complete strangers bashing your dolls, remember to stay strong, and I’m proud of you all. If you would like, please share your stories with me so I can listen to what you have to say! Or just tell me about your characters! I would love to hear about them! 

Please pass this forward so others can see this. It took a lot to write, and I hope it can help others.

hey, so umm some bjd updates:

purchased a body for calen (the little rebel kaylar i got a couple of months ago) but it didn’t work as it was way lighter than i had expected so rather then trying to match those i’m opting for matching a lighter head to the body instead, in this case my boy sae whom also was in need of new body. a bit taller than what i had in mind for him but i’ll make it work

i‘ve also got another switch head - a seolrok holy ver~ u v u he’ll be sharing the old dollstown 15yrs body with tuesday and the temporarily nameless migidoll ryu (used to be sae but I didn’t like him as a ws)

and on top of that i had to get a dollstown deogi head before she’s discontinued but uhh yea... i think that’s enough for now. gotta paint them all too.

while waiting for my latest addition to my resin gang i’ve kinda begun considering maybe sending off my other heads for faceups

as much as i’d love to do it myself let’s face it it might take years ‘til i bring myself to actually do it and then i still probably won’t get into regular photo shoots straight away because my faceup skills are pretty rusty and i’m bound to be displeased with the result. but at the same time i’m so picky with how i want them to look and putting that control in someone else’s hands? uuuughhh

additionally i’m so out of touch with the hobby at this point too. who’s even doing faceup commission nowadays?

BJD Photo Challenge: February

For @bjdchallenge‘s first prompt! “Post a photo of your first BJD.”

I spoke about my tastes in dolls changing before in This post, but I guess I could elaborate further on some points about the DOLLS themselves!

This question is always tricky since I no-longer have my first doll and my second doll, Vincente, is currently disassembled for possible mods and face-up. And to make it EXTRA tricky, I got both of them before I got my first laptop which means my old photos are not on my old laptop or Google Drive or anything. They’re stored on my family’s old tabletop computer which hasn’t been used for like 7-8 years. I only have three photos of them on my DeviantArt and the one of Vince is from when I had him cosplay Mello from Death Note to practice making burn scars. :’D But I guess I could post the two pictures I HAVEN’T shown here before!

The first one is of Felicia, a doll I’ve since sold and whose character is still in search of a new name. Also featuring the first piece of doll clothing I ever made; her dress!

And then there’s Vincente as Mello. xD Gotta love that focus being on the plants instead of him.

... Yeah. Yay for photos I took in 2009!

From left to right-. Pukifee size shoes from a (retired..?) Etsy shop, dollb. MSD shoes from Dollheart and SD shoes from Luts! The Luts shoes are actually the first ones I bought myself and got them alongside Vince. :> I love themmmmmm.

11. Do you have a doll you love but will probably never have?

Again skipping a couple of questions because I don’t think my answers would be too interesting. xD (In a nutshell... I prefer human characters over animals/anthros, like all BJD sizes and of course I talk to my dolls.)

As for THIS question. Hmmm... Well, I used to be this way about the RIngdoll Fat Happiness but then I actually DID get one after years of searching so at the moment I have this “everything is possible if you have patience” mentality. xD

All of the dolls on my wish list are basic editions I could easily get from the company. Well, I guess there’s two exceptions and those are basically “I want a Granado body and would prefer a Granado head but there’s not been one suiting the character yet” so I’m still waiting for those to pop up.

But if we want this “doll I prolly will never get”, we could go back to yesterday’s post. Ah, a blue skin doll... Who wouldn’t turn green with age... I would love that. Then I would just get a Granado Titan in blue skin and make him some insane paladin armour. >:U But er. Yeah. Green skin would be very wrong for the character... *Deep sigh* I could just dye the head, hands and upper torso blue and cover everything else up but UGH. Maybe in 5 years I’ll reconsider that.

Or then we can talk doll characters I want but prolly never will get. Like Tacion who would need floating, disembodied arms with purple fire (YEAH, SURE) and Areylen who would need metal hair that basically turns into liquid mercury halfway. Oh and skeletal wings that drip translucent goop (M-HM. VERY DO-ABLE). So I’m just gonna sit here and just draw those characters instead of making dolls of them because YEAH NO.

(Technically I’m still tempted by Tacion. You know... I could get him as an Unoa and just use wire for the floating arms.... Like a really long wire and photoshop it out and paint fire in. :’D But we’ll see.)

7. How much does yellowing bother you?

On NS dolls? Not much. Most of my dolls are “NS Yellow” so the yellowing isn’t too obvious. And on Vince yellowing has actually been a good thing! His character should be Italian and I’d prefer him to not be... super pale. I could excuse it with his heritage but eugh. I don’t want to! BUT! Yellowing has made him slightly darker! With some nice blushing he should look less pale than he did when I first got him over 8 years ago. :>

But WS and TS dolls? Oh boy... Well, on WS it may be okay if the doll’s character isn’t supposed to be paper white. One of mine, Zesil, SHOULD be paper white with gray blushing but HAHA. That doll was never pure white! So I just blushed him HEAVILY using grays and blacks. Just to cover up the yellowish tints (or the green tints on the head). 

(He still has this faceup. Lol. It’s so old but I know I still can’t make a better one so it stays. XD And yes. I will blush the body to match... Someday. I hate blushing bodies because I know it will rub off.)

Meanwhile, I only have two tan skin dolls (and considering a third) and I’m TERRIFIED what yellowing might do to them. Will they go green? I guess with Tai that might be okay considering he should be undead, but the others? Oh boy... Luckily, those have not noticeably yellowed yet as I’ve kept them away from sunlight.

AND. Well, I’ve stated a few times that I’d love to have a blue skin doll. But. I don’t want a green doll. So haha... I have a feeling a blue doll will just be a dream. Unless I suddenly decide to dye a Granado Titan blue. Yeah. Nnnnnnot gonna happen... Probably... I still am tempted... Q~Q
