In other news...Beetlejuice (or more specifically the BeetleBabes ship) rant time!!

I’ve had a resurgence of my hyperfixation w/ Beetlejuice thanks to listening to the musical’s soundtrack, and with that my love of BeetleBabes. and once again, I’m hit w/ tons of ‘ANTI BEETLEBABES’ or ‘BEETLEBABES DNI’ shit when I scroll through the tags. >_>

As a longtime BeetleBabes shipper...why do you insist on the notion that the majority of us like the ship with Lyds as a minor?? I cant tell you guys how much ship art I’ve seen with Lydia as AN ADULT over the years.

But no, that’s apparently still pedophilia to these ppl. I stg the mental gymnastics to keep making us seem like we’re pedo loving degenerates is ridiculous. We don’t like the ship because of the age difference.

WE LIKE THE RELATIONSHIP DYNAMIC. Be it platonic or romantic, we will always prioritize the two being happy horror buddies who like creepy shit over everything else.

NOT Beetlejuice being a pedo & grooming Lyds. (Srsly, he’s shown explicit interest in the adult body in all versions. We’re not stupid.)

NOT Lyds being taken advantage of. (Plus, she’s smart & savvy enough to find a way to come out on top anyways. Again: see every version.)

Just them being best buds who have the potential to be more later down the line after Lydia has matured both mentally & physically. Hell, I don’t even ship BeetleBabes when it comes to the movie or the musical versions! Just the cartoon universe, and again it’s only on an emotional level until Lydia has grown up.

If you ship BJ with the Maitlands? Cool!

If you ship Lyds w/ say...Wednesday Addams? Great! (<--Awesome crossover ship btw, I fully endorse it.)

But even those ships have their problematic sides. BJ/Maitlands could be construed as ppl condoning sexual harassment. Lyds/Wed even has the implication of ‘pedophilia’ because Lydia is older than Wed by like 5+ years? (...Which apparently ppl still freak out about with fictional ships??)

My point being...you’re not helping anybody by painting us as the bad guys.
