I like Ryuuzaki's character development but if someday Yoneda is making his chara development into a gay one like Onoda just bcs he has particular interest to another gay, dont you think it's little bit cliche? I never doubt Yoneda's judgment on her own characters but turning everyone into gay in her stories is kinda unnecessary. I like Ryuuzaki just the way he is, I mean even w/o him being gay, I still like him. You dont always have to like a character just bcs he's gay. What do you think?
The question of being gay or straight should not be taken all too seriously in the world of BL anyway, because BL does not portray things as they are in real life. It is a 100% fictional genre and is regarded simply as entertainment. Basically any (male x male) setting is possible, as long as it appeals to someone. So every discussion about gender or sexual identity questions in traditional BL works is pretty much pointless to begin with. “Gay” or “straight” are simply moe labels and have little to do with who a character eventually ends up with.
So although Onoda has fallen in love with a guy twice in his life, and will live in a gay relationship for the rest of it, he still belongs into the category “straight seme” while Deguchi is a “gay uke”, because those are their labels, and they don’t change. If an originally straight character falls in love with a guy, this is more or less simply a plot device to make his feelings look more sincere, because, hey, he loves that guy so much he doesn’t care about his sexual preferences anymore. But he’s not into other guys, so he’s officially still “straight”. It’s up to the mangaka’s storytelling skills how believable the outcome is.
This is just a very general description of course, and it is not always that simple, I am well aware of that! I also said “traditional BL works” above, because there are a few BL authors who write about gay relationships more realistically nowadays, like Nakamura Asumiko to only name the probably most famous one. Btw it’s 3 am and I haven’t thought this through properly, but about Yoneda-sensei’s works I would say that she is veeery good at giving her stories a realistic feel while still adhering to the rules of the BL universe in general. If you look at Yashiro’s and Doumeki’s relationship realistically for example, there are quite a few things that would be very unlikely to happen IRL. But the setting as a whole is rather realistic and the relationship between the main charcters develops at a believable pace. Yoneda-sensei is simply a master at mixing in fantastic elements and making them feel real.
But that wasn’t even your question, so what am I writing here? To cut things short: No, there’s absolutely no reason to be afraid that Ryuuzaki would ever develop feelings for another guy but Yashiro IMHO. But since Yashiro is already taken, Ryuuzaki will stay with his woman and take good care of her after all she went through for him. As for your other question, I can only speak for myself here, but at least in this fandom I am pretty sure that most of us don’t love characters any less just because they are straight (Amou), instead of “straight” (Onoda). I will be happy for Ryuuzaki, as long as he is happy. Cheers!
