#31974839 anti-ichihime argument that annoys me: when people say that ichihime moments are fanservice, or “kubo was just throwing you guys a bone” or whatever else

look we’re reminded constantly (by the very same people that call ichihime moments fanservice lmao) how small the ichihime fandom is in comparison to IR, and how it’s even smaller in japan. and kubo is obviously aware of this; with how often he gets tweeted from fans demanding for ichigo and rukia to get together, there’s no way he wouldn’t know

so like if ichihime is such a tiny ship, why write fanservice for ichihime shippers? if the ichihime fanbase is virtually non-existent in japan the way detractors claim...well how is kubo writing fanservice for people who don’t actually exist? like who actually would write so much content to please a very small section of their fanbase, and simultaneously piss off a much bigger section. if he truly was interested in writing content for the sake of pleasing shipping fandoms (and no one would blame him considering how weak bleach is performing in sales), he sure af wouldn’t be writing any ichihime scenes. he’d be writing for the more popular ship instead -- yet he hasn’t given them anything but scraps in years. it’s not even possible to argue that any ichihime scenes are fanservice when we’re by far and away the smaller shipping fandom

like i mean this is the final arc. bleach is going to finish soon. one ship is getting the lion’s share of romantic development (while the other, more popular ship has had literally none). that can’t possibly have anything to do with fanservice, so that must mean that kubo is repeatedly focusing on ichihime because he thinks it’s important and relevant

If you kill off characters but oh wait they're not actually dead because *insert some BS reason for how they can survive despite being chopped in half or having most of their body blown away*, then you're just making it obvious that you're just using character death for shock value and dramatic impact and that's really poor writing tbh???

i don’t really get people who say that the only reason the ichihime ship even exists is cos of orihime’s one-sided feelings. orihime had feelings for ichigo from the very beginning of the manga, and i doubt ichihime was much of a thing back then. ichihime didn’t start becoming an actual possibility until the arrancar arc, which is when we started seeing ichigo -> orihime

orihime being in love with ichigo doesn’t mean much (if that was all there was to it then it would be on the same level as ichigo/riruka lbr), and it’s certainly not the basis of the ichihime ship. it’s cos ichigo so obviously has feelings for orihime that makes ichihime so strong

ok so i just realised my blog is exactly 1 year old. that week orihime came back and protected ichigo and i wanted to come on tumblr and scream about it so i made this blog. that was 1 year ago. it’s just been 1 year since then like ??? there has been soooo much ichihime just in the space of 1 year like oh my god kubo levelled up his ichihime game so much and ichihime is so real and so strong and so alive

OMG YES I AGREE. I've always resigned to the fact that Isshin is a shitty father and I get so mad when ppl say he resembles his father because HE DOESN'T???? Ichigo would be a damn good dad, the total opposite of Isshin.

obv they do have some similarities, and i do enjoy seeing them act alike. when isshin actually acts a bit serious, or when ichigo acts like a goof, that kind of thing. but.... yeah ichigo will be so much better at parenthood than isshin. ichigo actually cares about other ppl’s happiness and always tries in his own way to help them. if he saw his own children struggling with something he could solve just by having a chat with them, he’d sure af do it straight away, not leave it for 8 fucking years i just !!!!!

lol he even agreed with Ryuken when he said he was a better father than Isshin ever was (chapter 241)

it’s weird bc ive seen ppl call ryuuken a shit father plenty of times, but never isshin. when ???? ok yeah ryuuken’s cold and not v affectionate but that’s nothing on isshin literally not telling ichigo anything about anything ever

honestly its just the fact that he kept ichigo is the dark abt everything. ichigo thought he was responsible for him mother’s death! like he blamed himself! can you imagine that poor little 9 yr old boy hating himself b/c he thinks he killed his mother?

i get that isshin couldn’t explain everything to him then b/c there were too many things that ichigo wouldn't be able to understand, but why it took isshin 8-ish years to get around to that explanation is beyond me. like he literally only told ichigo abt it when he no longer had a choice. was it a difficult topic for him to talk about? is that the reason? if so, then does his own comfort matter more than ichigo’s mental health and emotional well-being? fuck you isshin

ok...............i have to say this. i have to.

bleach is really getting on my nerves right now. the pacing is so slow. i feel like barely anything happens and it’s frustrating af to read it’s probably the worst it’s ever been, it’s definitely worse than when i dropped bleach before

i remember when i first got into bleach like 8 or 9 years ago, it was during the hm arc and i coudln’t handle kubo’s pace then either, so i’d leave gaps of about a month or 2 in between reading, and i found that much more enjoyable. i think i’m going to have to do that now as well. it’s going to be hard to avoid spoilers on  tumblr (p much the entire reason i haven’t been doing this wait thingy in between chapters for the past few years) but i really don’t have the patience to read it weekly

also i feel like it’s soooooo plotless right now. like. ok there’s a plot and stuff, but it’s spread soooo thinly that it feels like there isn’t any at all. i’d get it if there were battles happening which is usually the case when bleach’s pacing is like this - and that’s understandable. bleach is a shounen manga after all and it’s been action heavy from early on -- but rn there isnt even any battles. when was the last battle we even had?? i feel like all the characters have been doing is running around, climbing, falling and running around some more for like... months now?? i’m so bored of this?? wtf kubo please sort this out
