I drew the best girl in this garbage fire of a show
10 Headcanons that if they became real would make Rwby about 100% better of a show
Ruby being Autistic and using her headphones for music stimming
Pyrrha being a post-op trans girl who suffers from dysphoria still
Penny also being Autistic
Ren being asexual to add some fucking clear sexual diversity to the show
Sun is not a ‘dashing renegade who cares for Blake’ - He’s just a stalking creep who loves his hard cock more than his entire team
Weiss can sing, but prefers to play the piano because Winter taught it to her
Yang is Pansexual but far prefers women
BLAKE IS FUCKING BLACK
Weiss had the biggest crush on Pyrrha and that was why she was all over her in the beginning of S1
Nora is actually a vegetarian and feels bad for it sometimes because she lies because she thinks people will judge her.
The only way I'll enjoy rwby live action is if they get an actual diverse cast
Question for you, RWBY Fandom.
We all know of the Black Blake Headcanon that floats around, yes?
Okay, so why is it okay for the fandom to do that, but if Monty and Miles and Kerry had written Blake as black, you’d all be screaming about how “PoC aren’t all bad” and how “the media needs to stop painting them in bad light”?
I mean, she used to be a terrorist, so while she’s the personification of the prejudices against people of color, wouldn’t making her a person of color paint them in a bad light by basically showing that all people of color are terrorists (which they aren’t).
And let’s not forget the flack Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers got because Zack Taylor was a black man who was the Black Ranger, and Trini Kwan was a Vietnamese woman who was the Yellow Ranger.
Isn’t it the same in this case? It’s racist to have the black character be a representation of the color black.
It’s just a curiosity I have. I dunno.
So like white people tend to complain when a canonically white character is portrayed as non-white, either in an official adaptation or a fanwork. They like to claim reverse racism and shit like that.
And I agree with the basic idea that no form of racial prejudice should be tolerated, but this is simply and clearly not a case of racial prejudice. There is a world of difference between taking one of a few non-racist portrayals of a non-white character (let's say Emerald Sustrai) and turning them white, and taking a white character (let's say Blake Belladonna) and turning them black.
The difference is that in most situations, that character of color will be one of the few, whereas the white character is one of the many. I happen to believe that if your gender, sexuality, race, religion, etc. is underrepresented, you have the right to ignore details of the canon and take representation from your favorite characters.
Basically, you can headcanon what you want, but you should be responsible and not erase an underrepresented trait that probably many people are grateful for (like Emerald being a kickass woman of color).
Fictional worlds often don't resemble the real world, because the people in charge only put in who they want, which often results in a straight, cis, white, allo, dyadic, Christian/atheistic world. In the real world, there are gay and bi and pan people, trans and nonbinary people, black and Korean and Native American people, asexual and aromantic people, intersex people, Jewish and Muslim and Hindu people, and many, many more kinds of people, and they all deserve respect and good representation.
Whitewashing a character is undoing representation. Making a character black or nonbinary or otherkin or autistic is trying to correct a flaw in the media.
Please learn the fucking difference.
Two things: Why couldn't Blake be black? There are like, no black people on the show, except for Emerald, and she's evil. A black Blake would have been awesome, hence why she's so popular in fan art.
My second thought is what if Yang and Cinder are related? My biggest concern is that somehow Cinder is actually Yang's mother, which would just be evil, but they could also be sisters...
