Inktober Day 30. Among the gnoll mercs working for the Black Fane, a growing number have begun to claim allegiance to someone they call “the UnMade Mother”. At times, they’re found in the company of these creatures, who call themselves “the Daughters of the UnMade Mother”.
They seem nice!
So, it turns out the Unmaker left behind more than just an Elemental Eye when he got cast down and bound within the Whispering Abyss. And just like its siblings, the Elder Sorcerous Hand wants to free the Forgotten One, and reunite itself with its siblings and their master. And then Unmake the cosmos.

Look, it’s not that I don’t like Zuggtmoy as a “big bad”, it’s just that she really doesn’t fit the whole Elder Elemental theme, yanno? So, should the crew ever make it to the bottom of the Black Fane/Temple of Elemental Evil, this is who they’re gonna meet.
Inktober Day 31. Guardian Beast of the Fire Temple, sadly killed in the Battle of Emridy Fields. And since the Champion who summoned him got dusted by an empowered Disintegrate spell, along with his amulet, this fella’s probably not coming back real soon. But don’t worry! The Air and Earth Temples still have their amulets and Guardian Beasts! It’ll all be fine!
Inktober Day 27. Each of the 4 Outer Temples has (or had, at least) a Guardian Beast, a warped elemental monstrosity summoned and controlled by an amulet wielded by the Temple’s foremost champion. At the moment, there are only 2 left, since the crew ganked this one about a month ago.
Inktober Day 26. And here’s a full body view of the UnMade Ones. Now, for religious reasons, the UnMade always wore full robes, concealing their entire bodies, but if you were to get them outta their kit, this is what you’d see. Right before they annihilated you.
Inktober Day 24. Unsworn bugbear mercenary for the Black Fane. Most of the bugbear mercs aren’t really believers in the Fane’s whole “End The World” trip, they’re just there for the cash and the opportunity to eat people. The bugbear crews that’ve hired on with the Fane are pretty creepy, even for bugbears.
More #dungeon23 Black Fane map stuff. Y’know, I think I mighta overstepped on this one. Now I gotta figure out how to map out an underground temple that’s 1000 ft wide at the top, 375 ft wide at the bottom, and 500 ft deep.
I think the crew’s gonna be here a while…
