Apparition by Black Violet

This is my first (I think) review of any Black Violet perfumes. This one I received in a swap with someone when I purchased Solstice Scents’ Dellamorte. The package got returned to her address and she generously threw in some extra frimps for the trouble. Which of course, wasn’t any trouble, since I didn’t feel any rush to have that particular SS scent. I still do trust that when people agree to a swap that they will do their part (perhaps I have been lucky). 

Notes: Black Violet’s Apparition is described as a "unisex, dark, cool fragrance which opens up with a slight camphorous note with a peculiar, sharp & clean musk."

In the bottle: Sort of clean, reminding me of a men’s aftershave or soap. Or something like Axe Body Spray, or Old Spice.

Wet: Camphorous is right. It’s got a weirdly medicinal note, and is musky

Dry down: On me, this stays largely the same. I definitely think this is some sort of musk, but it’s not really clean. Medicinal, again. There’s something laundry-like to it as well, leaning a little grey/dark. In ten minutes, it’s nearly undetectable. If I can speculate, it smells sort of like a grey musk. Maybe a little motor oil in there, lightly blended in. 

Sillage/Longevity: In about ten minutes, this has actually faded almost completely. The throw at first is strong, and then sort of just is gone.

Verdict: I think this must be a very old scent from BV, as I do not see it listed anywhere in their scent library. Also, the only reference to it I found is from Working With Monolids’ blog post from 2014, so again... it must be relatively old. Perhaps the perfume oil has gone ‘off’ which explains why it completely disappears from my skin in just a few short minutes. Either way, this is a weird, medicinal scent. Not for me.
