Three the hard way. These monotypes were first shown @cummermuseum as part of a suite of 9 prints in the “Lift: Contemporary Expressions of the African American Experience” exhibit, which was co-curated by the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens and the Ritz Theatre & Museum @ritztheatremsm . Each monotype is titled with a line from the poem/song “ Lift Every Voice and Sing” written James Weldon Johnson and John Rosamond Johnson in 1900. These are the last three monotype prints , “Treading A Path Through” , “The Dark Past Has Taught Us” and “Out of the Gloomy Past” left from the series that are available for purchase.
