What was my favorite book in the 1st half of 2019? Which made me happiest? Who was my fave character? Hmm, I don't know. Why not watch the video where I answer those questions and more. In my Mid Year Book Freak Out tag video I also talk about the biggest disappointment, book that made me cry, several witchy nonfiction books and my fave bookish community member. Check out the link in my bio to watch. https://youtu.be/hUkAy71-vbQ 📚 #scarletmooncreations #letstalkaboutlove #bookstagram #booklr #amreading #asexuality #nyc #bookcommunity #contemporarybooks #lgbtqiarep #fortheculture #priestess #selfcare #booklover #blackathon #intersectionality #midyearbookfreakouttag #witchesofinstagram #witchywoman https://www.instagram.com/p/B1cch36nzyk/?igshid=pu9moul8xgh1

Blackathon Round 5 | February 2023 TBR
It's TBR time! Check out my February TBR!
As with every February, I prioritize Black authors for Black History Month and participate in Blackathon! I have a separate TBR for Blackathon and 3 other books I want to get to otherwise, so let’s get into them! It is #fridayreads and I am actually reading a romance novel. It will also be my first read for #blackathon and there are still a few days before February. #amreading #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CZSBA2tJrGe/?utm_medium=tumblr
So far for #Blackathon which is one of the readathons online to celebrate Black History Month, I have started 3 books, am halfway through one, and now I am starting a 4th book. I'll try to read only one of the books in this bindup of #zoranealehurston works in February. #modernclassic #mondayreads #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CLVYRX5hiY3/?igshid=etrlhm51hl7x
Reading, reading. #Blackathon update.
My week got a bit thrown into a blender due to the snow last weekend, so I didn’t get to finish/start the stuff I’d meant to. I only finished one book last week, but I’ll likely finish two more in the next couple days. Possibly three? It depends on how into The Ballad of Black Tom I get. Like, I say I want to tackle some Lovecraftian horror, but do I? Do I really?
Anywho, I did get a couple things in from ILL, so I now have the #Blackathon group book, The Secret Wives of Baba Segi’s Wives by Lola Shoneyin in my hands. I had meant to start it this week, but next week is fine too. I also really need to start tackling some of these nonfiction books. The Cooking Gene by Michael Twitty is the one I’m looking forward to the most. I mean, it’s a food history. Are we shocked over here?
However, I did make progress on Binti, and I managed to start Smash It! by Francina Simone. I should be able to finish both up pretty quickly. SI! is a nerdy theater kid YA with a lot of swearing and oh my god, the mortal dread of being 16 is just coming off this narrative in waves. It is both amazing and I kind of want to hug Olivia and tell her it won’t be that bad.
I did manage to finish a book last week though! And it counts for Black Author Readathon, as well as #Blackathon. It was Intercepted by Alexa Martin.
