The victim blaming didn’t end with my Teacher, the girls had their fun too. ‘Calvin’ (the popular boy) approached me during lunch and asked if I would stop sending him letters. “I don’t like you!” he screamed. Being confused on why Calvin needed to put me on front street for something I never did, I asked where did he get the information and Calvin showed me a letter. I don’t remember the specifics, but the letter asked if he like me too and something about “going together”. I explained I didn’t write the letter and asked Calvin to leave me alone. He paraded around school, making pig noises and snorting. Calvin did everything he could to embarrass me, but I stood my ground. A few days later, Calvin’s sister wanted to fight me. She called all the mean girls to the playground, including ‘Nikki’. Fair-skinned, long-haired Nikki. At this point the girls claimed I did write the letter, right down to the lipstick kiss at the end. “You’re the only girl here with huge monkey lips like that!” Nikki said. At this point I was tired. I began to cry. I became exhausted in having to fight to clear my name. Then, Nikki laughed and they all began laughing with her. I was beyond confused. Calvin sister admitted she wrote the letter to set me up. “Nobody is trying to fight you, quit being a punk.” Someone yelled. Nikki claimed this was my punishment for having the boys chase me and for making the boys do what they did to me on the field trip. You remember the field trip story, right? (You can find it on #blackbind365 ) My body started developing at the age of six. The boys started chasing me around the school yard at the age of eight. It consisted of being chased, slapped on the ass or having my breast groped. My third grade teacher stated: “boys will be boys”. The field trip attack happen when I was nine. Clearly these young ladies have been watching this for quite some time and said nothing, just plotted their revenge. At what point do we take out our own trash and start hold the proper parties accountable? When?
