#BlackEurydice Born in America #MarpessaDawn migrated to Europe when just a teenager, first dancing in revues then stage acting and television in England. In 1953 Marpessa relocated to France and at the age of twenty-four landed the role for which she is most remembered that of Eurydice in the film #BlackOrpheus (#OrfeuNegro) which won the 1960 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The film is a modernized version of the Greek poet Ovid’s poetic #Metamorphoses or #Orpheus and #Eurydice.
