Black History All Year 2020 . . Tammera L. Holmes is a strong advocate for youth in science, technology, engineering, and Mathematics, cultural exposure and career development/ advancements. Holmes has cemented an impressive curriculum vitae and educational background in Aviation. She graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management. She is an upstanding role-model and leader within the African-American and Aviation community. Since 2008, Holmes has been opening doors and spreading knowledge to young people on a field that for most is still very foreign. Her focus is to get more African Americans, females and other underserved and underrepresented populations interested in STEM careers, particularly in the Aerospace industry. . . Tammera has been named 1 of only 15 National Afterschool Ambassadors of the Afterschool Alliance based in Washington, D.C. The Afterschool Alliance is the only organization dedicated to raising the nation's awareness of the importance of afterschool programs and advocating for all children to have access to affordable, quality afterschool programs. Growing up in a crime-ridden western suburb of Chicago (Maywood, IL), Tammera understands the impact the current climate in Chicago has on young people’s ability to expect greatness beyond what they see. Happy International Flight Attendant Day!✈️💙🧡 Not a day goes by that I am not eternally grateful for what I do for a living. Becoming a flight attendant was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. It has changed me for the better and positively affected so many aspects of my life. Not one to settle for monotony, my job constantly keeps me on my toes.
