Jesus. 360 homes are complete losses. #BlackForestFire officially tops #WaldoCanyonFire, which destroyed 346, then the most in state history

My #tbt This was taken last year when Sundance (a horse who was severely burned in the Black Forest Fire) was able to go home after recovering at Colorado Equine Veterinary Services the vets office that I had a seasonal job at. I sure miss this guy. #horse #blackforestfire #sundance #cevs #throwbackthursday #recovery #mustang

Fortunately, my first post on here is to announce that the Black Forest Fire has now been 100% contained! 509 homes have been lost, and 28 partially damaged. 509 families will be coming home to rubble. I know the feeling... and it's awful. Even when you see it, it doesn't seem real. Even a year later, it doesn't seem real. I can still perfectly envision my home, and it sometimes feels like I'm on extended vacation and that it's still there and I'll be back someday. But I know I won't ever see it again. And that's what those people will be going through. Some will have an easier time than others; those with strong family support or support of other loved ones seem to pick up the pieces a lot faster. I myself dealt with it really well from the get-go, but delayed onset depression hit me in my second semester of freshman year. I have better control of it now, and I want to help others do the same. As soon as I begin volunteering I'll have pictures and info to update you guys on how things are going for the Black Forest folks! But for now, let's celebrate the long-awaited containment of this fire! :)
