I had always personally thought Oni were the ogre-equivalent to tieflings and meilius and oni-tieflings are my excuse to put that concept into my homebrew world.

no im talking about like, actual japanese mythology

like when my grandpa or other japanese relatives were telling or reading me folklore a lot of times they would call oni “ogres,” which is a result of the two terms being super interchangeable

People keep describing her as some sort of undead thing but all I got from Matt's depiction of her + the mini he used is that she's a Sea Hag

yeah, she’s not actually undead (she didn’t show up on cad’s Eyes of the Grave radar) but the aesthetic is similar and they kept making fun of how creeped out travis is by ghosts

so when she was, like, skittering horribly over the ceiling, they were like “oh shit it’s the ghost lady from the grudge! look out!!!” and when they were looking for her laura said something like “just as long as you don’t make her like the Ring girl” and travis was like “why would you SAY that??” and the whole ‘long stringy black hair covering up her horrible, horrible face’ thing, it’s all very j-horror-esque.
