Deray Mckesson
“Deray Mckesson was born on July 9th, 1985. He is an American civil rights activist. He's in an organization called We The Protesters, which organizes protests that center on African-American issues. He's been active in the Ferguson, Missouri, and Baltimore, Maryland protests. I chose Deray Mckesson because he is extremely supportive of the B.L.M movement, and protesting. In March of 2015 the Los Angeles Times named him one of the "New" Civil Rights Leaders for the 21st century. He wrote for the Huffington Post and along with fellow activist Johnetta Elzie and wetheprotestors.org, launched "Mapping Police Violence", which collected data on people killed by police during 2014 and 2015. Mckesson also was awarded the Howard Zinn Freedom to write award in 2015 for his activism. Mckesson and Elzie were named to fortune's worlds greatest leaders list for their work with the Blacks Lives Matter Movement.”
