Preview: When your blacksmith had said he would be taking care of Christmas dinner, you hadn’t been exactly sure what you were getting into. He hadn’t been super loose lipped about what he was making, but you had the feeling that he was going to go overboard. The whole stubbornness paired with creative tenacity that he had in forging metal with nothing but fire and heavy objects was a huge part of Pero to be sure. Apparently that level of dedicate translated to his promise of food for the holidays.

When you got to his apartment, you were greeted with a firm kiss on your cheek along with the wonderful wafting scents that were coming from his kitchen. It didn’t smell like your traditional “American” Christmas dinner, but omfg it smelled amazing.

“Pero, you said you weren’t going overboard,” you chided as he helped you out of your coat.

He crooked an eyebrow, “Did I say that?”

Preview: To say you had been rather intimidated by the blacksmith was an understatement when you had started working at the local living history museum. It was a fun yet hard job, to be sure, it was no picnic being a tour guide for groups of up to 20 or 30 people while keeping in character. Though you did like how getting dressed for work meant putting on the different layers of clothing like those from the 1760s.

The layers of putting on the stockings, chemise, stays, petticoats, overskirts, jacket, and little cap all made it feel like you were getting into character. Because you did have to get into character, pretending to be a young lady of the working class of the era. It had been exciting to go with your manager on your first day, meeting your new coworkers who manned the different locations of the museum. Everyone was darling until you got to the blacksmith’s location where you had met the glowering and scowling Pero Tovar.

Preview: As you drove your little SUV down a snowy gravel road, you glanced at Pero in concern.

“Are you sure we’re going the right way?” You asked, flicking your headlights on as dusk quickly started settling over the tree lined lane. As you hit a bit of a bigger pot hole then you realized, you couldn’t help hiss in dislike even though you knew the SUV could more then handle it.

It had been a two hour drive to the cabin rental that Pero had booked you both to stay over for your own private bit of the holidays. Seeing as his truck tended to fishtail when roads were slick, your vehicle had been packed up so you both could leave work that day and go straight into vacation mode. But the GPS directions had ended part way into the mountains so you’d had to trust Pero’s navigation skills and his printed out map since the cabin owner had warned of exactly that happening. It all felt very early 2010’s mapquest-y… and you didn’t like it.

Like Blacksmith Pero isn’t normally the most... vocal about his affections

But when he and reader get married? That man is ecstatic!

Still sometimes cant believe you said yes and now you both are married?! Hell to the yes, Pero is here for this

Since neither of you really have a conflict of interest with neither of you overseeing the other the museum is totally okay with it too, because like you said it gives another layer of realism to museum visitors experiences when real life gets layered with the job

Literally they actually edit both of your “characters” to be married in the setting they have created as well with the gruff blacksmith falling for the sweet and often more chipper lady (only the patrons of the museum with the seasonal passes they use all the time know the fiction is very much based in reality)

For all Pero’s grumpy facade he for sure isnt shy about giving you sweet kiss on the cheek that leaves a soot stain he will laugh about before brushing it away for you

Any weird patrons of the museum who make crude comments about Pero and you that lean to the misogynistic side “because it’s hIsToRiCaL” just get the legendary glare from your husband (generally while he is holding something in the forge with the tongs not that he would hurt them.... probably... maybe)

But it is not at all a strange sight for your coworkers or museum goers to see you take your lunches over to the blacksmith’s shop so you can both eat together

That and the museums designer/photographer took a cute snapshot of you both walking back to your car in the evening still in costume

Pero smiling at you while you recount some of the hilarious questions one of the kids on your tour had been asking. That photo ended up being used on some of the summer promotional ads online and in the new brochure because everyone could just SEE how you both felt for each other and it was just so fricking sweet <3

Heather I need to know more abt the cat & her litter of kittens and Pero STAT

TBH? I imagined my cat Sophie’s momma cat being the momma cat lol

Pero isnt super creative with cat names, he totally calls the skinny tortie cat “Mama” and he totally noticed what kinds of lunch meat she preferred (turkey) and cheese (white cheddar) so like... well that is what all of his sandwiches are made with now XD

Now Mama cat was super skinny, he sort of was actually expecting the kittens to not survive because he is rather sure Mama cat isn't full-grown herself and had been dumped when her owners figured out she was having kittens because she is just too damn sweet to be a feral cat. If he ever found out who dumped her Pero would be having words with them... with his fists

But to his surprise (and him sharing so much of his lunches along with buying cat food that he stored at the shop) one chilly morning he comes in and Mama has made a nest with some of the rags from the shop near the furnace and there are five little wiggling kittens all mewling and tiny. Three yellow tabbies, a calico, and one extra small solid black kitten.

Mama cat and her babies has to be moved a little further from the furnace for safety but Pero makes sure she has a nice box with all the warm fabric and such he can get her. And she legit will show them off to him okay? He’ll be working on some of his paperwork for commissions they do for historical home renovations and Mama will just bring the kittens, one after the other, and plomps them down for him to watch over (yes Pero Tovar just got made into a babysitter for kittens you can't stop me) and you totally catch him grumbling even as he plays with them.

Also! He 100% makes sure Mama and all the kittens get spayed because he is a responsible man and doesnt want like... 20+ cats around even if he loves these ones XD

Pero is going to need your help naming all these kittens though because naming Mama was hard enough for him XD
