🦇 what is a fear they never talk about ?
Losing the people he loves, hands down. He already suffered the unthinkable with the guys in his unit and with Erhan– he cannot imagine enduring that again with anyone else. He doesn’t like to think about it, refuses to talk about it.
💢 who have they never forgiven and never will ?
First instinct is to say his father, for always making him feel like the “spare” son, and for literally beating his inferiority into him growing up. But if Aslan’s really being honest, Yusuf (his father) is a walk in the park. Who he really struggles to forgive is himself. Despite going into a mission with the best of intentions and strong intel, he feels like he led his unit right into a death trap and that it’s his fault that the children of those men will never spend another birthday with their fathers, those daughters will never have their fathers walk them down the aisle, and their families will always be staring at an empty seat at the dinner table. So for how bad Aslan likes to think Yusuf is, he knows in his heart that he got it wrong that day, and he can’t forgive himself for that.
📿 what superstition or ritual do they cling to ?
Picture a Derek Shepherd, “it’s a beautiful day to save lives” moment– except, it’s Aslan walking into Şerefe repeating the same line that Erhan always did whenever he started a shift. The line is, “ellerinize sağlık,” which means health to your hands, a popular Turkish phrase meant to praise hard work and effort, especially in a culinary setting. Erhan used to say it in order to set a positive mood in the bar and kitchen, and so naturally, Aslan has carried on the tradition. Other than that, any of his rituals are centered around morning routines and workouts.
