1) Your favorite TV show?

Ed, Edd n Eddy. Now I don't really watch any shows anymore, but TV was a big part of my childhood. And with those that I've grown up with, there's something of a timeless quality to them, especially with this one. Actually, when you boil it down to its elements, all this show is about is a group of three friends, very different from one another, very fun in each's own way, as they go about their day-to-day lives. That's really it. There aren't any formulaic conflicts that the characters have to overcome, or any sitcom-ish predicaments that drive the plot forward. And that's the thing with this show, there isn't really any plot, there's no string of continuity that ties anything back to a greater purpose. One episode had them filming a home video for literally its entire duration, while another had one of them daydreaming about what they would be like as seniors. The show just has the kids interact with each other and their neighbors and work off different scenarios that either spawn from their own shenanigans or the other kids present them with. In this way, I'm reminded of Louie, another such show that had this sort of free-form theme for each episode. It's very contained and very basic, but that's where the charm comes from. The characters are fun and memorable, the way they play off each other is hilarious, the dialogue is great, the style is great, the humor is varied, going from exaggerated slapstick to at times surreal; it's very animated, it's creative, it's very childish sometimes and very adult other times. But I think most of all, it embodies the essence of being a kid, and because of that, it oozes nostalgia in more ways than one for me. My pick for timeless classic.
