You know what? As a full on Dair shipper, I completely agree with the first part of this post. You will never be able to fully understand the dynamic between Chuck and Blair until you've lived it.
When you're with someone who ignites you in that specific way, who makes you feel weak and vulnerable when you've been strong your whole life because they understand the darkness in you, there's a dependence that forms. For once there is that someone who gets you. Someone who says that hey, I know that you're capable of doing these selfish, evil things and I accept you for it. In fact, I'm the same way and we get that about each other.
And because you get that about each other, you forget sometimes when you're fighting or when you're hurting and feeling alone that the person you're with isn't your enemy. They're supposed to be that one person who will always be there for you and that requires that you also be there for them but you attack anyway because you know that no matter how badly you act or how painful your words are, in the end they'll understand because they're exactly the same way.
So yes, I've been there, I've lived it, so I get Chuck and Blair.
But in no way does that mean that you're in a healthy relationship.
In no way does that mean that this person who understands the darkness in you will ever be the only person who will love you.
Because, yes, the good guy will never be able to change you into a better person but someone, a guy (or a girl if you're so inclined) who loves you or a friend or a complete stranger will come into your life and will tell you that yes, while I do understand the darkness in you, while I accept that you have and can do evil and selfish things, there is more to you than that.
That person will come out of nowhere and they will ignite a different kind of fire in you. One that will let you spread a different kind of energy, an energy that helps create beautiful things rather than destroy them.
And I think that's what Dan brings to Blair's life and vice versa.
