WELCOME TO ARIDEA. WHO WILL BE YOUR PARTNER FOR YOUR JOURNEY...?
Chikoko: It often holds still among bushes or grasses, waiting for its parent or for small bugs, whistling to itself softly. It is easily frightened, and will often simply hold still in hopes of camouflage-- but when it feels particularly threatened, it will release a loud whistle with the hole through its beak, and kick out at the attacker.
Pupcussion: These pokemon are endearing and fairly friendly. It enjoys headbutting things with its rock-hard nose, and slapping things around with its tough tail-end. Though not overly graceful on land, they swim quite well.
Blamb: This tenacious sheep is fairly aggressive, but makes a loyal companion. Surprisingly, it doesn’t use its horns to attack all that much-- instead, it stomps its front hooves, triggering the orange beads to explode. Blamb tend to flock together, and create a massive percussive drumming with their stomps when threatened.
Chikoko - Grass type
Chick + Kokopelli
Chikoko (and the following line, coming soon~) is based primarily off a green heron (one of my fav birds!), palo verde (that’s where the yellow and the bright green legs come from), and kokopelli (who typically has a flute, and is depicted with a large crest).
Pupcussion - Water type
Pup (baby shark) + percussion
The idea of the nose-bumping comes from the way sharks check their environment out: their noses are the most sensitive part of them-- they’re stuffed with all sorts of organs and have a clearer “view” of directly ahead of the shark than its sideways facing eyes do-- and thus they often bump them against things to get a better idea as to what it is.
The large tailfin of Pupcussion is inspired by a Thresher shark. As for the grey bit... you’ll see in the other evos ;D
Blamb- Fire type
Blam + lamb
This one’s not all that complicated to explain. Red mane because fire type, and I thought some black with white flame would make sense as a sheep (and white flame is the hottest-- purple is lower, hence why the flame is fading to purple on the edges).
Blamb’s influences really haven’t shown up in its design yet-- but you’ll see heh
I’m only doing sprite art for the starters-- but hopefully y’all will enjoy it! It’s my first attempt at really, 100% original sprite art.
