"I have my reasons and they're not important. Anyway, I really am sorry." She didn't sit down beside him, only shifted her weight from foot to foot. In all honesty, she didn't know why she chose Marco's gear to steal. It was the most convenient. Annie kept silent, unable to find any more words, donning her usual mask of indifference.
"Not important!?" That made Marco sit up a little and glare at Annie, shaking his head just slightly and now not caring so much that she could see his ruined face. After what she’d done to him he thought the least she could do if she had the guts to come and apologise was give him a reason. He narrowed his eyes.
"Yeah, you’re sorry. Great. I nearly die and you’re sorry, so I guess that makes everything okay again." Marco was really upset about more than his own life. He cared much more that because of her others had died too. Because he hadn’t been there to help. His squad had been left without their leader and knowing those who hadn’t made it through the fight made him feel sick to think on. Then there was the hurt others had gone through on his behalf.
"You own me an explanation. Hell Annie, you owe us all one for the people who died back there."
