What makes it so awful?
Making Snow Globes: a poem by me, done in the style of a poem I might have written as a preteen.
Glitter water. Sticky glycerine glitter water reeking of isopropyl alcohol. Oh christ it’s everywhere.
Broken Glass. Broken Beastlies. And always, always, everything coated in sticky glitter water.
The bubbles won’t leave. The glitter won’t detach from the bubbles. More broken glass. Another broken Beastlie. Why won’t the silicone stick properly? Wait 24 hours between each step. One step fails, reset to 24 hours ago. Again.
Needlenose pliers in the left hand, pulling the stopper to the middle, squeeze bottle of the glitter water mix in the other hand. Position the tip past the stopper. Careful. Slowly, slowly, little more OH GOD IT’S SLIPPING more broken glass, another broken Beastlie. Reset to 24 hours ago.
And always, sticky glitter water everywhere.
