Crying out, Daquavis twists in the sheets to push him away, arm bracing onto his chest and gripping into the rough cotton of his t-shirt. “What are you even doing here?”
Sapnap climbs up onto the bed to pin Daq back into the sheets. “Blake’s been held up—I’ll be your replacement weighted blanket; lay your ass back down, bro.”
(Or, Blake is late and Sapnap has been put in charge of Daquavis' aftercare in his absence.)
Anxiety ridden daquavis freaking out in his truck about some new random irrelevant thing and blake just sat next to him only half awake next to him wearing a silly little frog hat :3
you KNOW it 🐸🟣
Blake likes nature, he likes looking for frogs and fishing and chilling outside but he is NOT vigilant enough (and likes his video games too much) to be a true Outdoorsy type.
Daq, on the other hand, has been doing this since he was a child and is properly and accordingly wound-up tight—which sometimes backfires into freaking out about something kinda dumb—like he is right now, truck idling in park at a fork in the road where there shouldn’t be one. Is it his map that’s wrong? Have they been driving on the wrong road for 30 minutes? Do they have enough gas to make it back into town and onto the correct road? Will they ever make it to the lake today? Did they spend all that time packing the gear for nothing??? There should not be a fork here, and yet there IS.
Even after only a few months of dating, Blake knows that Daquavis is AWARE that he’s freaking out when he should be staying calm, that he’ll likely get over it soon, but now he knows how he can help too.
Still half-asleep, Blake unclips his seatbelt, sliding over the bench seat to wrap his arm around his boyfriend’s tense shoulders. Daq stills, finally stopping his muttering to himself over his phone and folded out paper map to look up at him. Blake takes the opportunity to bring him in for a kiss.
The distraction works, and daq melts into his side, arranging the angle to kiss a little better—hand sliding under the flap of his silly frog hat to cup at Blake’s cheek.
After a few minutes of lazy kissing, daq finally pulls back with a quiet sigh. “We’re still lost, Blake.”
Blake is fully aware that he is not going to be any help navigating. “Let’s go back to the cabin then.”
His boyfriend looks like he’s gonna protest for a moment—he’d been excited to show him the lake (and go kayaking and fishing and all sorts of outdoor adventures). But sitting back straight in his seat, his eyes look thoughtful for a moment, darting ahead to the forking dirt road.
“…if we go back to the main road, it’s still an hours out on the correct road. So that’s an hour and a half at least…” Daq trails off, Blake lets him do his calculations. “…by then my family will already be at the lake—nobody—nobody will be left at the cabin…”
Raising an eyebrow, Blake gives daq a little smile when he turns back to him. They haven’t had a lot of alone time on this trip yet, with daq’s parents and sister and uncles and aunts there with them.
“Plus, the gas is so expensive these days… we could—we could just go back…”
Blake leans over, tipping daq’s chin to press a kiss onto his lips again. Sounds like they're on the same page after all.
