I’m part of a few Bleach discord servers! Most of them, including the run I run, are for certain ships, but one I’m a part of is fanficfion based and we all just chill, share fan work, and sometimes talk about the series. I can ask one of the mods if it’s cool to share the link if you want =^w^=

What got you into Bleach and how did you come to love Izuru so much?

OH MAN what a question!

I got into bleach when I was about…..15, so twelve years ago. I devoured the anime, which was still ongoing at the time, so when I ran out of episodes, I started reading the manga and I loved that even more. 

And bc the anime/manga were still ongoing, the community was really active when I joined that (on livejournal back in the day). And I just loved the community so much, and had such a good time. Plus I was still enjoying the manga so much.

And like that it just kinda became part of my life. Like clockwork I’d watch the new episode, and read the new chapter every week. And then talk about it on livejournal, and I’d spend like, entire days, on lj talking about bleach, and making icons, and macros, and reading fanfiction.

And the thing abt livejournal is that it was really good for if you had a favorite character, because you could make separate community blogs for them, JUST for fans of that character and people would constantly be posting on it. Sharing discussions and art and icons etc. It was really nice.

Also at the time, bc I was so into manga, my interest in drawing got way intense, and let me tell you, there’s nothing better for your art than being so into a character that all you wanna do is draw them day and night. Which I did.

And still do, bc even after all those years I still love drawing Izuru, and I love him so much as a character, and I love bleach, and I love my memories and experiences in the community.

I saw a reply you posted about you drawing Shûhei dark skinned so I went back to see it and I want to say I love it too! It looks really good and he is one of the few characters in Bleach who def isn’t the same color as me lol. (For Tôsen’s skin I think I usually go with purple undertones but sometimes I use red cuz of the skin palette I use, but in the show he’s got very deep, cool skin.)

Admin speaks; yeah ! I’ve taken to Shuuhei being south asian since first seeing it...?? I don’t know, maybe a year (2?) ago?? (you’ll see in some of my earlier work he’s still light-skinned like in canon merch and stuff) I like the idea of creating more diversity in canon, especially because it isn’t even weird to think that in Bleach there’d be south asian ppl too, even if there’s no canon representation for that :/ 

   I’m still figuring out how to properly do skin-tones (both light and dark (colour theory and all that jazz)) and honestly, these drawings are rarely very rendered. Often there’s just one base colour and MAYBe a single shading colour so ;w; but I try my best with the limited palette im using at the moment. It’s nice to see people are reacting positively ! So thank you for your message !

Chad has a soft spot for small animal and had brought stray to the vet in (anime)canon. Ishida, however, doesn’t seem like a guy who like cat enough to pet the stray(though not disliking them) but he’s in dire need of kitten therapy in my opinion. He’d needs a few minute to process though.
