Those who should be fearless
Have now become fearful
For the power in numbers
And the voices of people
The cries of the broken
Have now become louder
Than those of the few
With positions in power
Our words they have silenced
With bullets of steel
Our first amendment rights
Have now been repealed
If silence is violent
Then our shouts can help heal
The crumbled society
Filled with broken down dreams
Which have been stepped on by those
With the power to silence our screams
The yells of those fighting against
The racist society
In which we still live
In a so called free country
With “true” equal rights
For people of color
So they too can have an equal fight
To live their own life
Free of racial profiling
And the words of pure hate
They may have escaped slavery
But they may never escape their fate
The fate given to them
By rich men in power
That deemed them unworthy
Of any true rights
Their opinions revoked
Their freedom overturned
With weapons of destruction
And the power to kill
Too many have die
Before their lives been fulfilled
You can hear the combined screams
Of those defeated by men
With the intent to kill
To keep our country “safe”
From the people they feel
Are a threat to their safety
Not the safety of others
Or how those men feel
Too many have died
And yet it won't stop
The innocent not the guilty
Continue to drop
Like flies to the ground
Their bodies filled with lead
Amadou Diallo
Sean Bell
Oscar Grant
Kenneth Chamberlain
Trayvon Martin
Kendrec McDade
Kimani Gray
Jonathan Ferrell
Eric Garner
John Crawford
Michael Brown
Kajieme Powell
Over one hundred rounds fired
And a choke and a punch
12 victims we have lost
Too many have died
And this has to stop
