Ho trovato su youtube questo commento interessante, che parlava di come nel Pinocchio di del Toro, lo Spirito della Foresta si comporta in un certo modo infantile, specie a confronto con la serissima Morte. E allora mi è venuto in mente come nel libro, la fata è uno dei pochi personaggi che vediamo crescere, da bambina dell’età del burattino a donna adulta.

Qui ho disegnato la Fatina e la Morte in versione umaneggiante, ispirandomi un po’ a immagini delle donne che, secondo il giornalista Nicola Rilli, abbiano ispirato Collodi con la fata dai capelli turchini:

La figlia del giardiniere, Giovanna Ragionieri,

la madre Angiolina Orzani

e la politica socialista Anna Kuliscioff

I saw a coomment on youtube talking about how in del Toro’s Pinocchio, the Wood Sprite has a somewhat childish behaviour, especially when set against her much more serious sister, Death

And it got me thinking about how in “The adventures of Pinocchio”, the Blue haired Fairy is one of the few characters we actually see grow up, from a little girl about the same age as the puppet, to a grown woman.

Here I depicted the Wood Sprite and Death in a somewhat human appearance, basing the designs on some of the women which are said (at least by the journalist Nicola Rilli) to have inspired the character of the Fairy: the gardener’s daughter Giovanna Ragionieri, Lorenzini’s mother Angiolina Orzani and the socialist and feminist icon Anna Kuliscioff.

Vor einiger Zeit hab ich auf Youtube einen Kommentar über del Toros Pinocchio gelesen, in dem darauf hingewiesen wurde, wie der Waldgeist aus dem Film eine eher kindliche Figur sei, vor allem, wenn man sie dem ernsteren Tod gegenüber stellte.

Da ist mir wieder eingefallen, wie im Buch die Fee mit den blauen Haaren eine der einzige Figuren ist, die aufwächst, von einem Kind wie Pinocchio zu einer erwachsenen Frau.

Hier hab ich den Waldgeist und den Tod in menschenähnlicher Gestalt dargestellt. Dabei hab ich mich von den Frauen, die Nicola Rilli zufolge die Inspiration zur Fee waren: die Gärtnerstochter Giovanna Ragionieri, Lorenzinis Mutter Angiolina Orzani und die sozialistische Politikerin Anna Kuliscioff.
