I’m feeling mixed emotions about this. Pride, pain, pleased, hurt.
Proud that my uni and the wonderful midwifery society we have have managed to do this.
Pain because I know what those colours mean and will soon be getting them tattoo on my body.
Pleased that they are raising awareness for baby loss.
Hurt that anyone has ever felt the pain of losing their baby.
University of Leicester was primarily known as the university that produced doctors or the university linked to maddie mccanns case. Now there’s some new courses trying the path the way. 4 years ago 2 great people with a vision went and said we want to do nursing and midwifery here, the uni laughed and said that’s what DMU is for. They said we want to be better, let’s do it as a masters undergraduate course, which will be 4 years, let’s do it with leadership and let’s do dual registration for the nursing. The uni said go to the NMC and see if they approve and we’ll see, the NMC said that’s a fantastic idea and now here I am a 2nd year student nurse, learning from some of the best minds in the business and teaching practicing nurses as I go about my course. So thank you UoL for giving nursing a chance and for ensuring the researchers didn’t just stop researching as they teach, I know for a fact one of the nursing lecturers is looking at 2nd trimester miscarriage causes and tomorrow your doing a candle light memorial to take part in the wave of light. I won’t be going but I’ll light my candle just like I have for 6 years for all babies lost 👼🏻
