Her parents looked away from what they were doing when they heard Lucina’s tiny feet running towards them. She skid to a stop in front of them, trying to catch her breath from all of that running.
Chrom chuckled, leaning down so they were at the same height. “Yes, Lucina? You seem to be in a hurry.”
“Daddy, you said that if I wanted something, all I had to do was ask, riiight?” The little girl rocked back and forth on her feet with a grin on her face. Chrom gave her a weary smile, trying to choose his words wisely.
“Well, yes… It depends on what you want.” Robin simply shook her head at him. Honestly, he spoiled Lucina way too much.
“I want a younger sibling!”
Her mother dropped the book that was in her hands and Chrom’s face heated up in an instant. The two adults exchanged glances before looking back at the princess, who continued to rock back and forth on her feet.
“Lucina,” Robin began to say as she leaned down to pick the book up. “That… Request might need to be put on hold for now. The process is a… Complicated procedure and your father and I are very busy at the moment.”
At Lucina’s pout, Chrom sighed and patted her on the head. “Maybe one day, Lucina.”
“Ooookay.” Lucina sighed in annoyance before smiling. “I want a younger sister, though! Boys are icky because Owain is icky.”
Before her parents could answer, Frederick popped his head in to alert the young princess that it was time for her studying to begin. With a groan, the princess waved goodbye to her parents and joined Frederick’s side, who led her to the study.
Chrom sighed a breath of relief as Robin laughed gently at his face. “Maybe she’s lonely?”
“Perhaps, but we have other worries on our hands,” Chrom said, looking in the direction Lucina went to. Perhaps this was her way of telling them she was lonely. They needed to spend more time with their daughter. “We’ll arrange a family outing for us, after we confront your father tomorrow.”
Robin said nothing, only nodding her head. They would make it back for their little girl. They had to.
