The onslaught of Winter seeped on into the earliest inklings of season’s change on the horizon. For, while crystalline drops froze like tears at the ends of weeping willows, and the sheen of frost remained quite commonplace on most store windows, something in the air threatened Spring.
For now, the familiarity of the snowfall which readily lathered the North Mountain in a lavish blanket of white took only to the quietest coves of Hive City. No trace of prior sightseers was betrayed by the pristine quality of the powder which blanketed the clearing upon which Elsa had happened. And so it was the further on she looked that the young woman could not help but think this particular glade a most suitable venue for her intentions.
Yet, solidarity did not avail her long, as a gentle rustle of snow-smattered foliage drove the blonde again into hiding. Certain the racing of her heart beat deafeningly in the quietude of the glen, Elsa thought to take her leave once she had spared the newcomer but a glance. However, what she witnessed was a sight which only drove her thither to the immediate company of this newest arrival.
Whether deliberately or otherwise, brazen was the step settled then upon the slope of ice which contained beneath its surface a pool undetermined in depth. Earlier in the season it no doubt would have withheld the weight of the gambler at play with no contest. But now, the pane did splinter beneath the pressure, a crack running the length of the pool to the opposite end where Elsa now stood.
In an instant her own sole befell the surface, the reaction the ice took to her touch instantaneous. As if it were a tape playing in reverse, the crack again sealed itself up as the magic danced across the small lake’s delicate surface. Repair was soon upon it in full, the waters beneath in an instant frozen solid beneath them. So that, as they now stood poised at opposite ends of the pool, no threat befell them any longer.
"I would advise you to take upon your steps a little more care," The queen now began, cerulean eyes reluctant at best to match those of her opposition in light of the recognition she bore in beholding such features, “However, I wouldn’t imagine you one so easily dissuaded from testing your limitations.”
He'd gone there out of raw curiosity. It was purely of the norm for Loki to go looking for trouble, and this occasion proved to be no exception; as the weather certainly was one that naturally suited him, the trickster hadn't been able to ignore thoughts of his origin. Whether he recognized himself as an Asgardian or not remained shrouded in mystery, though his own emotions remained more or less clear, along with his choice to appear as such a being.
Thus he'd ventured onto the frozen pool of water, attire more suitable for Midgard -- slightly formal clothing with a long, dark coat and black gloves. Sticking out at that point was not his intention.
Stepping carefully onto the ice, he listened as it creaked slightly beneath his feet, a single crack already appearing. Faintly, a smirk twitched to his features as he glanced at the frozen surface with mild amusement. Ironically, Loki had not yet been granted any of his ice-related powers, though.. he had ways around the issue, due to his ability of transformation. No doubt he'd be able to prevent the ice from breaking if he chose to test it further. Nevertheless, the thought of falling through and sinking into the bitter cold water seemed.. almost refreshing.
It appeared, however, that his reflections were not meant to last, as the crack suddenly sealed itself -- drawing Loki's attention up.. and to an intruder. A woman. As she spoke, the trickster stared unreadably, gaze almost as cold as the ice itself. And yet.. there remained a glint of curiosity within his stare. She recognized him.
All the more cause for examination.
Boldly, he slowly took another step forward, slowly crossing the ice to her while refusing to look away from her gaze. The frozen surface groaned slightly beneath his feet.
"So.. It would seem you know who I am."
Another step. His coat shifted slightly, rustled by a slight breeze.
"But that is quite kind of you.. taking a moment of your time to save me from such a perilous situation." Still, his smirk did not fade, words hardly earnest. "However would I have managed otherwise?"
