for Dean or Ben from Law on my side blog @blccdiedknuckles?
There was a time of great ambition and happiness when he dared to imagine long road trips across the United States. And eventually, after the cliche run of college, he would take his mother abroad where both of them would broaden their horizons. Little did he know how much he took after his father. Then and now. Now with a car filled with all of his belongings he thought Maine was not what he had dreamed of. The thing about dreams were they were stupid.
It could've been the creepy veil of the supernatural but Maine, Cookie specifically, was ugly. Daunting. Ben felt he would be pulled into the fog and never come out. The horrible humidity didn't help Maine's cause either. Really it wasn't anything's fault. He was a lit fuse just waiting to explode. Living on the edge ever since his life was turned upside down because of his mother's death. Actually it was the supernatural's fault. Why else would be in motherfucking Maine with hands around a stranger's neck? He needed answers. He needed peace.
Ben needed a lot of things. Therapy for starters but that wasn't going to happen. Through the hunter grapevine he had heard things about Cooke, and through the Cooke grapevine he had heard things about Lauren. A decent stay at an inn turned violent had not really been in his plans. But Ben hadn't really thought it through to begin with. To think he had been a happy and decent human being not so long ago, now he had no qualms going from 0 to 100 to get what he wanted.
“ Just. Answer. The. God. DAMN. Question.. ”
He had never been a sadist. Never even so much hurt another person... except breaking a girl's heart here and there. It was disgusting how his heart was racing in his chest, how his adrenaline was pumping, yet the surge in power felt damn good. It scared him almost as much as monsters scared him. Items were scattered across the floor and the young hunter heard a pen crunching under his boot and keys digging into the sole.
“ Have you seen DEMONS? You know, black eyes, straight out of hell? ”
The Inn owner wasn't a demon. THAT Ben at least knew. Droplets of holy water dripped off Lauren's face as Ben continued to press and press while looking up at his eyes. Power was a funny thing. Corruption was a terrible thing. It wouldn't bring back Lisa but pinning a helpless freak to a wall made the pain feel a little less intense. There was pain in Ben's eyes but more than that-- there was rage.
