--Well! That chapter contained the totally shocking and unanticipated revelation that....Ichigo's mother was a Quincy!!! Which we all called months ago. But still. Nice to have it confirmed.

Aizen: And I knew about it even earlier than that.

Me: Shut up, Aizen. Nobody cares.

--But let's talk instead about Ichigo's face. Ichigo's poor, tired, defeated, unhappy face. He actually thinks he can't face his friends or his dad because he broke his sword and didn't get it back. And you know, I think this is Ichigo's first experience with hardcore failure. Sure, he lost a couple of fights and he lost his powers that one time, but I think this is the first time he failed AND was told that he couldn't try again. That's a more complete failure than losing to Grimmjow in their first couple of rounds.

Renji: It's gets easier, man. Failure, I mean. After a while you just say, "What? Is my sword broken? Then I'll fight with a fucking broken sword!!!"

Ichigo: But I don't even HAVE my sword anymore!

Renji: Oh. Well that just totally sucks.

Renji: Good luck with that.

--And how cute was Ichigo with his boss? I love that Ichigo has adopted her as his mom-figure that he can go to for, you know, all the comfort he doesn't get at home.

Ikumi: Mom-figure?! I said I was an older sister!!

Ichigo: Um...I'm pretty sure you're my mom.

--SHE LET HIM HAVE A BATH. That is all.

--And then Ichigo's dad shows up. Using shinigami powers as a cloak of invisibility. And at first I was like, "Wow! How creative! Why doesn't Ichigo do that?" And then I remembered that all of Ichigo's friends can see shinigami. Ikumi is probably the only person left in Karakura Town who can't.

Ikumi: Sometimes I think I should live in a town without so many gas explosions.

Ikumi: Then I figure - eh. At least crime is pretty low.

--Oh and it seems that Ichigo's soul reaper pass no longer works? At least, Ikumi could see it, and humans aren't supposed to be able to. So either she was pretending not to see Isshin, or Ichigo's soul reaper badge no longer has any juice. No more spying, I guess, Ukitake.

Ukitake: NOOOOO! How will I survive without Ichigo TV?

Ukitake: Kyoraku, what are we going to watch NOW?

--I just hope that we're about to get some sort of extended Masaki / Isshin flashback. Because it would be nice to FINALLY learn what's up with Ichigo's past - where Masaki fits into the Quincy hierarchy, and of course what Squad Isshin was from.

--And then we can move on to Ishida training Ichigo. Which is totally going to happen. I'm calling it now.

As for the new Bleach chapter..kind of expected

Only real shocker is when Ichigo went to Izumi's house of all places. Maybe she'll have more significance than we thought further down the line?

I guess Ichigo couldn't go to Ishida, Keigo, or Tatsuki's houses without having to explain himself. But I still have a feeling that she's going to be someone important.

Ahh but at least me know now how Isshin and Masaki met :)
