oo, how /do/ you interpret hunter meeting NSH in the void.. is it some sort of time-shenanigans where time doesnt pass the same in the void so when saint eventually gets around to ascending NSH they seem to show up at the same time as hunter? Or is it some sort of memory/vision and not really.. real.

I believe it's just not real!

It's possible to meet people in the void that have also ascended, but also the place works like a dream. You see what you most want to see there.

Artificers pups didn't ascend for example, she saw them because at the end of the day, assuming you took the path to the void sea, all she ever wanted was to see them again.

Survivor sees their entire family in home tree! I don't think every single slugger surv knows has ascended.

And I definitely don't think NSH has found a way to ascend either. Hunter just gets to finally rest in the arms of someone who she loved.

i just read someone describing “ethiopians “ as providing an alternate ending to the alphas from what happens in “alpha rat’s nest” - good things never last / bad things never die - and i’m curious how literal you take the couple’s death in flames to be?

My feelings about the Alphas as a whole are incredibly abstract, but hear me out.

I don't see the Alphas as full characters, rather as classical character archetypes existing in a non-linear and non-canonical narrative, thus the concept of taking the text "literally" cannot be applied to them. Someone on here once made a restructuring of Tallahassee/the Alpha songs to fit within the structure of The Oresteia by Aeschylus, which kinda cracked my brain open when I first read it. There are different endings to the fate of Orestes throughout classical texts, different bends the story of the House of Atreus take through classical literature, and none are more fully "canon" and true than the others. I believe the same concept applies with the Alphas. In Ethiopians they are alive and breathing, sending postcards to the friends they used to have. In Design Your Own Container Garden, they are laying in the crater of their love, burnt out but not dead. In Alpha Rat's Nest, they exist as Schrödinger's Alcoholics, with some lyrics alluding to their deaths and some saying that maybe they're still out there singing their poisoned songs to one another. Hell, the Alpha timeline was supposed to end with Alpha Omega, and some ~timeline purists~ will still argue that it does, with one leaving the other and the other sadly sitting, eating peanuts from a can in a manner that is most definitely not a graphic allegory for masturbation. None of these endings are more true than the others, and also none of these endings truly conflict one another.

TL;DR-- The Alphas exist as Mythos and not Narrative. Tune in next week for more Hot Takes With Newt.

Okay! i don't think any of these ^ ratings really do it justice. i'll be honest at first i had no idea what i was listening to cos id queued it up and looked away from laptop and it started playing and i was like wh..lol..OK... and then it kept going and I was like oh cool. Apparently there's lyrics! so i looked at the lyrics and i like them a lot! I see the vision and I respect it ! I enjoyed that.
