As a writer just staring out, how would I go looking or even asking someone to beta for me? I have trouble putting work out because I feel it only makes sense to me.

(making this answer public because you’re not the only one to ask)

If you’re talking about fanfic, the best place to start for that is right here on Tumblr. Join a community... the best one I know of is Darcyland, centred around the @fuckyeahdarcylewis blog, so if you’re writing with Darcy as a main character, that’s a fantastic place to ‘advertise’ for a beta. Often you can find pairing-centric or character-centric blogs where you can look for a beta. I suggest searching for #(your pairing name) or #(character name) and looking at the top results, if you’re not sure where to start.

If you’re talking about original fic, that’s a bit more tricky. If you’ve joined one of my fandom writer anthologies, there is a group beta/edit procedure for the stories once first drafts are up, but if you’re looking at self-publishing on your own, your best bet is probably to join a community like Critique Circle.

I've seen and heard a lot about Overwatch. My question is why is should I play the game?

disclaimer: I don’t play any other videogames. I’ve watched (and enjoyed watching) people play arkham knight, far cry primal, life is strange, and the last of us on ps4, and I tried to play tlou but I literally can’t work the ps4 controls and kept dying because I couldn’t walk lol

so that’s the perspective I’m coming from, a big gay hoe who saw a bunch of wlw content, got Shook by the characters and story, and was like, guess I better play

reasons I like playing the game itself (I could do a whole other post on why I love the characters and the story and all that):

- it’s easy to learn the basics and hop into playing the game! this is sooooo important to me as a baby gaymer girl who can’t work the ps4 (I play ow on pc), actually being able to be useful and not terrible and basically on the same level as other people was awesome

- BUT you can keep learning better ways to play a character, and trying out new ones and using abilities other than the basics is new and fun

- there are so many chars, so no matter how you like to play you can figure out your favorite. you can also mess around with new ones

- it’s really dynamic! you play with different people, the team rosters change every time, different goals each game, and there are also fun arcade modes

- you can do competitive if you’re hardcore, or if you love yourself like me you can do quickplay and arcade, where losing doesn’t reaaaally matter and the stakes are low

- time is an illusion. you can keep playing this shit nonstop because it’s so fast-paced and changes all the time (though all of the games I mentioned above seemed addictive too so idk if this is all games)

- it’s pretty??? the maps and char designs and skins and sprays and everything are really Nice

- so this is less about the game itself but you get fun/Dramatic/sad/funny voicelines and char interactions, I’m Shook all the time

- you can play with me :)
